yeah, Mayo, yuuuum Hey Mr. Manders! Nice to make your acquaintance!
Yeah, I suppose "big Thursday act" isnt really the thing i need to ask. But they SHOULD open the What stage on Thursday if they're gonna open the grounds earlier. Last year was a straight NIGHTMARE at Sleigh Bells.
I feel like, if it's Foo, then Roo isnt really killin it. Foo did all the other fests last year. I love them, but they're done. They're the Groupon of fest headliners at this point.
I vote Radiohead.
I also vote to make a separate poll.
Remember that at least 1 of those 4 is for sure. So isn't it smarter to choose the band that you don't want to see? Then you already know if you're gonna be happy or sad.
Sidebar: Can we ask Insider if there are gonna be massive Thursday acts this year? Last year was intensely crazy with the THursday acts and opening the grounds way earlier... Thursday went from "chill day" to "crazy day".
And Foo has been touring way too long to do Roo this year I think. Saw them last May at Sas. Is that too long to tour?
They're playing Jazz Jest in May, I believe, so I don't think it's out of the question. I saw them in November - they really put on a great show.
yeah! They put on a super show!!! They were amazeballs at the Gorge. Then the folks I went to Sas with even saw them AGAIN here in Atlanta. So I completely agree, they can rock it out. I just feel like they were gotten last year, and for Roo to get the sloppy seconds isn't what would make me happy. But Im not AC/SF, so I dont get to decide.

first of all rhcp r fucking incredible. second of all most ppl who attend the festival would like them as a headliner. this forums mostly for people who are really in to all kinds of music but most people go for big headliners. make no mistake the rhcp are a big headliner, they have four straight albums in the top 3 on the billboard 200. how many past headliners have done that? probably kanye, jayz, eminem and maybe the police (and those albums came out in the 80s)

Won't I be happy or sad either way? Those are the only choices Kind of like when you ask someone, "What side of the road is this place on?" and they say, "It's either on the left or the right."... well yes, you've just stated all of the options so you're 100% correct that i will be happy OR sad
I go to Bonnaroo regardless of who's there. Because it's Roo. BUT my excitement level does indeed depend on who's playing, so yes, I'd prefer that RH, or RHCP (or random, BOWIE) is there - but who I vote on bears no impact on who will actually be booked.

Those albums were made with other band members.. Didn't a very important member leave the band?
Seems like a decent reason Mayo! Thanks for explaining
HA! I like you Manders. Maybe I'll keep you.
INSIDER! Thanks for your pearls of knowledge. You are the rockstar of this thread every year, and Im not just blowing smoke up your heiney. Can't wait to see your next post!

The Beach Boys have often been called "America's Band",[1] and Allmusic has stated that "the band's unerring ability... made them America's first, best rock band."[2] The group has had 36 United States Top 40 hits (the most by an American rock band) and 56 Hot 100 hits, including four number-one singles.[2] Rolling Stone magazine listed The Beach Boys at number 12 on their 2004 list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time," the highest ranking for an American Rock & Roll band.[3] The group is also one of America's best-selling acts, having sold over 100 million albums worldwide since their debut in 1961.

john frusciante left the band and he was very important to the writing process of 3/4 last albums. however there new album is also awesome and was made without him plus their new guitarist josh klinghoffer is in many ways better then frusciante when it comes 2 live performances. he is not as good of a writer but an equal if not superior guitarist. seeing as how they r playing a show at roo and not writing an album im happy to see them

I'm in the 'hope for no RHCP' camp -- saw them in 99 at woodstock and they sounded rough at times. They did bounce around the stage and once in awhile they sounded pretty good. But then there would be this horrible moment when it sounded like bad karaoke and off key.
Good energy though, really great background music for a riot.

ur gonna base ur opinion on a bands performance at woodstock 99. i know i wasnt there wasnt even 10 years old but its a pretty well known shitshow. some of my favorite bands played there and none of them sound good on recordings from taht concert

rage is better riot music. just curious if u saw the tragically hip at woodstock 99. one of my favorite bands and they are fucking huge in canada but not too big in the states
i think its a given that the beach boys will be there because i dont think brian wilson would do this big tour if he wasnt milking as much money out of large festivals as possible. this will be the buffalo springfield show of 2012. all this information is very possible, and should be obvious.
so therefore we are left with the "at least one" part of the equation. are two of the acts going to be there? three? all of these?
i feel we can eliminate all four. as others have stated, its unlikely to have both foos and rhcp, but also this would be too many high name acts when included with phish. also, i feel as though insider would have worded things differently were this the case. (unless it is a very tongue in cheek way of saying BINGO you got it ALLLL right, son!)
three of four also seems wrong because she would probably have said something different as well. such as "at least one of those WON'T be there."
so now we are left with two out of four, the most popular and likely answer. obviously radiohead, phish, and beach boys would be the ideal situation. therefore, we can eliminate this entirely. i've been a member of these boards too long to start thinking shit like that will happen like we want it to. rhcp and beach boys? likely but doesnt sound very exciting to many of us. therefore, this will probably be the correct answer. foo fighters and beach boys? i would be satisfied. many of us would be satisfied. not loving it, but phish foo fighters beach boys and one more headliner would keep us all from "boycotting" (as in pretending we aren't going to go this year because we think its sub-par, then we talk about not going for three months, which is crazy because why would a person who is honestly not going to go to a festival want to read about it for an entire fourth of a year?) the festival.
for the sake of argument, the obvious answer (bb) are out of the equation, and we have to evaluate the other three combos.
foos and rhcp? see above rhcp and radiohead? we will all accept rhcp if we have phish radiohead foos and radiohead? see above and add a small amount of excitement based on overall inforoo opinion of foos being 4 percentage points higher than rhcp
IN CONCLUSION, i just stated basically everything that everyone else has said previous to this post up to but not including insider's last statement (ie the reason FOR this post) and everything people will state after this post up to but not including insider's next post. unless, of course, some other random, marginally important clue/evidence pops up.
