Hi everyone. This is our 2nd Roo, last year being a GA experience. We really lucked out after being on in line for 8 hrs, getting a super sweet RV spot in a field with one other Pop up. Literally, we spent the entire weekend with one neighbor nearby, and a sea of tents as far as the eye could see.
This year, we'd like to go VIP for various reasons, mainly the easy entrance. I do not want to spend another 8 hrs waiting in line this year.
Soooo...all that to say, I know we'll have to purchase a VIP RV pass to bring the pop up camper. We do not use a generator, and do not have air conditioning. I'm concerned that we will be on top of a bunch of RV's and smelling their fumes all weekend.
I know this is a shot in the dark...but does anybody with VIP pop up experience have any tips? Thanks one and all.
The best advice to give you is when you arrive pay close attention on where they park you. Look out around you, if people already set up next to you are they running their generator? Is the exhaust to their generator pointed toward your campsite?
Even with my RV Last year I asked to be moved because where they were parking us a neighbor had a loud contractor type generator. The gentleman parking us hesitated at first and then I put the question back on him.. "Would you want to spend $1,500 to have carbon monoxide poisoning for four days?".
Ask to be on the end of a row, even of it is farther walk your stay might be more enjoyable being away from the larger RV's with generators.
Here is a picture of our old camper in 2006. With the canvas tent ends I wanted to be on the end.
If any of you own a RV with a built in generator. Please consider a GenTuri. It will make everyones stay more enjoyable.
Thanks so much for the reply. Seeing as how my little pop up is barely more than a tent on wheels, I wish they'd let me stay with the tenters. =) I'd pay the RV upgrade, even still!
It's helpful to know that you had a decent parker person. I'll try the same.
The other thing is just being flexible for the first 2-4 hours -- and by that I mean, unless you get parked exactly where you want on the first try, you might be able to evaluate the situation as your row fills up and zip around to somewhere else.

Great idea, just don't try to tow the pop up when popped up.
They can park next to me, I do not have a smelly generator.
