I am coming with 2 pairs of VIP peeps & am thinking we could all pile in one car but use both parking passes. This would allow for a bigger campsite (2 spaces) & be good on the environment. Has anyone ever tried this?
The official line is one spot per vehicle however in reality it depends on who is parking you and how good you are at talking you way into things.
Last year we were able to do exactly what you asked. We had 4 people in one car and were able to talk one of the check-in people into putting the second parking sticker on to one of our backpacks and then we talked the person parking us into giving us both spots.
In 2009 we emailed the Bonnaroo staff and asked them the same question. We then had our second set of VIPers get their parking pass at checkin and requested two spots when we rolled onto the farm. It worked out for us... two spots one truck.

We are in the same boat this year. We have 4 in our van, 2 parking passes. I asked Gary on the bonnaroo website and was told 1 car, one spot. We are caravaning with another car and hoping we can stay together so that we should have enough space, but I am going to try what goofyone did last year.
Hmm. What's to prevent you from just leaving the space between you and the person who drives in ahead of you empty? We did that with a huge caravan a few years ago. Then just have someone jump out and throw some gear down so no one drives in to the empty space (though that's not likely to happen as most people will just stay in line in chrono order).

Wait...there are no parking attendants like in GA for VIP? Ooh I had no idea that this was even possible.

There are parking attendants, but they're far and wide and kind of scattered at the end of the rows.
I just pulled my '09 parking chart (we had a big group coming in and people wanted to camp next to certain others...nerd alert!) and we definitely left a few spaces open among 20 spaces total.
I don't think you'll have an issue. Just leave that space between you and the car ahead of you open and jump out and throw your gear down. Be prepared with your extra parking pass in case someone questions it, but I doubt that'll happen.
Although...this year is sold out, so maybe it won't be as easy as I'm making it sound. Hmm.
There are four of us coming in a Suburban, I had the same question, emailed Bonnaroo and got the following response:
Thanks for your interest in Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. The way the VIP campground passes work is that each pass equals a space not a vehicle. You should not have a problem with space in your campground.
