Harden chokes in the playoffs every year. I definitely think Hou vs GSW will basically be this years finals but I'm not too worried if I'm a warrior fan.

I'm WAY in on the dance this year. I think there are a dozen teams that could win it. And this got me thinking. I love college basketball and the NBA has really done quite an astonishing job killing all the interest I have in college players from all over the country when they make the jump. The product is just unwatchable to me if it's not the playoffs. Am I the only one on the board who feels this way? I'm certainly not trying to hate on anyone who enjoys it, I'm just upset that I'd rather watch Barry-era Storage Wars than something I absolutely loved when I was younger.

The NBA is much better than college ball, unless you have some kind of hard-on for zone defense.
The players are professionals, so I get that, but what else makes you prefer the NBA game to the college game? Also, there are many teams that don't play zone defense in college. Most of the last several coaches at the school I pull for have played man but I like that other schools have that strategic option. It's also cool to have to deal with a team like Syracuse on occasion. It's like facing a triple option offense or something.
The NBA has the best entertainment factor in sports. The greatest player in the world just traded out his entire team mid season to try and compete for a title.

Well, yes, the fact that the players are the best has a lot to do with it. You have players playing right now that are unlike anything we've ever seen in the game before. LeBron and Curry are clear examples, Harden is one of the best ever at his position and yet still can't seem to win an MVP because of the current talent level, and then you've got these guys coming up like Giannis, Kristaps, and Embiid, who don't even make sense physically.
Also, and you can argue this is superficial, the NBA has the most drama of any sport at any level (at least in the US). If you follow the NBA, you feel like you know these guys and you know the stakes. College ball doesn't have that. You can blame one-and-done if you want, but all that means is that the best players go to the NBA as fast as they possibly can. The most famous college players right now are Grayson Allen, who is best known for being an absolute shit, and Trae Young, who plays for an otherwise-mediocre team that could easily flame out in the second round, who will be in the NBA next year.
NBA teams now are so streamlined offensively (the Rockets are on-pace to be the most efficient per-possession scoring team ever, not to mention the freaking Warriors), they play defense at a level they never have until the past ten years or so, and the competition is at an all-time high. I don't think basketball has ever been better than the NBA is right now. I'm relatively young, late twenties, but I don't think that's an unpopular opinion among big basketball fans.
I like college ball, too, more than almost all of my friends. I don't think it's terrible or anything. But night-in and night-out, the NBA is more likely to show you something amazing, something you've never seen before, or even thought was possible. Giannis jumped clean over a guy and dunked the other night. Harden, on the team with the best record in the league now, dropped sixty and needed every single point to beat the terrible, bottom-dwelling Magic a few days ago. Jokic had the night he had tonight. College basketball rarely, if ever, gives you stuff like that.

I don't watch the NBA. College basketball is the best version of the game to me. Though I am happy to hear when college players move on to play professionally. Who wouldn't want to get paid to play basketball?
Also wondering when the feds are going to start dropping bombs. Been reading a lot on how the investigations could affect my beloved March Madness. Not sure if I want info to come out before or after the tourney.
ETA: I also have a total hard-on for zone defense.
I'm the opposite. I don't see any point to college basketball beyond March Madness. Anyone decent signs with a school for one year (or perhaps 2 if they get redshirted or injured) and moves on. I agree with y'all when it comes to baseball, because I quit the major leagues after the two strikes in the early 90's. I don't generally watch college baseball, but I will watch some of the regionals, super regionals and the CWS.
As for the NBA, it's my second favorite sport to the NFL. I enjoy going to games. I watch most of them that come on tv (exception being if it's not the Pelicans and the Olympics are on, I'll watch that).

I like college basketball because the format of the NCAA tournament makes it so that any of the top teams can win it, so it gives me hope that my team might every year. The NBA stakes seem lower to be because GSW are going to win it and everyone knows it. If an NBA team I rooted for was a contende I would watch more NBA.
I prefer the NBA because I feel like I get to know the players better and it's a better emotional investment. Often times the core of a team will stay together for a long time, which personally makes it easier for me to follow during the times I'm only watching casually. With college ball the core our teams is constantly changing - it's a totally new team every four years. That makes it hard for me to care.
So, remember when I said I thought there probably wouldn't be that much fallout from the FBI investigation?
Yeah, my instincts may have been wrong there.
Would you rather see the bombs start falling before the tournament (causing teams to not be able to participate in the tournament at all) or after (having to vacate wins and championship titles)?
The number of teams that could be implicated in this is huge. No team is safe.

I'd hope it doesn't happen til after. My team (UK) sucks and might not even make the tourney this year, so I'm sort of sour on college ball this year to start with.
