Just a reminder to anyone who's into this kind of thing - the national spelling bee championships are today.
Preliminary rounds are airing now through 12:30 Eastern on ESPN, with the final round airing on ABC beginning at 8pm Eastern tonight.

I try to catch this every year... I work tonight, but I'm sneaking a TV in after the boss leaves.

It's down to 21 spellers at the moment.
I've had it on pretty much all day.
I think they're narrowing it down to twelve.

And I know just how these kids feel when they biff a word... I personally shall forever hold a grudge against the word deciduous.

So I peaked at regionals. Ha. Some kid just missed Santeria. I'm sure most of us would've known that one.

My junior high spelling bee was open to everyone in 6th-8th grade.
In 6th grade, it was in the final showdown with an 8th grader and won on freaking DYNAMITE.
It was about as gratisfying as outspelling a Special Olympian.
