I keep hearing about the new VIP mound/hill added in 08 and since I wasn't there in 08 can we get a review of this please? Any pictures? Did this replace the VIP bleachers? Good? Bad? ???
I liked the mound. Was not really that much farther away from stage than bleachers in previous years and you could lie down and stretch out on a blanket while having a nice view of the stage. One change I would ask for is that the little tent/bar on top of the mound be air conditioned. It would be sweet to be able to hang out within view of the main stage in air conditioned comfort.

I liked the mound. I would rather sit on the soft ground than those bleachers. We took our anywhere chairs and when we were tired of sitting we laid on the ground and leaned on the bales of hay. The view of the stage wasn't bad either.
It would be nice to have a few porta potties a bit closer to the mound.
I concur with Sweetmelissa, Porta potties would have made my life a little sweeter. I enjoyed propping my body up against those hay bales giving my back a break.
for a second, i thought you meant peeing against the hay bale.
every time i ventured to the mound (had a great time watching plant and krouse) i always noticed this heavyset couple sitting on the haybales. i kept thinking - they must be absolutely dying in this heat / sun.

Lol, yah, I didn't really transition between the sitting on the bales and the porta potty statement.... that did give me an idea though... maybe I'll pee into a bale. haha
By the way, we were two bales behind the sizeable people you saw. They did seem to be having a time in the heat.
Personally I really liked the mound...it was rarely crowded...and the hay bales made for awesome back rests! ;D I only tried actually sitting ON them once and ICK! Notsomuch! VERY scratchy even with a blanket over them and lots of bugs/ants/chiggers SOMETHING in the hay that kept eating at my legs and making me itch and scratch and just major uncomfortable! But throwing down a blanket in FRONT of them and leaning up against them was awesome! Tons o room and a great view.....I really like it!

The mound has its own enterance accessable from the VIP tent camping area. There is also a gate by the vendors. It never got very crowded and the view was nice!
The sound was a little weird there. You could hear the stage sound and the delay, but we got used to that quickly.

it wasnt bad to chill at (i watched bbking>jack johnson from there)..but for a show i really want to see..it was too far away. i had to get with the peeps for PJ.
they could definately improve it. and the bleachers on the other side..i dont think i have ever seen a time when that thing wasnt packed.

Chances are, unless you intend on spending the whole day at What stage slowly moving forward to get up front or unless you are one of those d-bags/c#%ts who run and elbow their way past everyone, then you are going to be that far back anyways.
Phish, Stevie Wonder, Jay Z, have all been quite enjoyable even from a quarter of a mile out
