I just remembered how I got a cheap camelbak last year...check THE THRIFT STORE. I know it might sound gross, but last year I got a camelbak for 50 cents. Then you just replace the bladder with a new one from walmart ($7).
If you guys head to www.gearattack.com it's a tracker for all of the backcountry.com sites.(Steep and Cheap, chainlove, etc etc) It also has a search function that lets you see what's been up on all the sites and if they have any more in stock you can get them at like 30-50% discounts. Not too bad.
This is not the tent we got, but we bought a Wenger from ebay last year and were very, very happy with it. The quality is excellent, it was easy to put up (and ours is large...8-10 person) and the large windows provided excellent ventilation. Thought I'd pass this along for anyone looking for a tent:
anyone know of some good deals on small camping grills?.. i'de like to bring one this year!
Go to the coleman website, and go to the family store, and put in the code "family", the girl im going with googled coupon codes or something and found this...it gives somewhat of a discount on a lot of things and im pretty sure theres grills on there, its where were getting our single burner from. hope this works : )
I just got back from supply shopping at Big Lots, and they have a good selection of solar lights. I purchased two 5 ft. solar-powered Tiki torches!!!
They also have bamboo mats for $2.50, which I think are supposed to be used for the beach or something, but I got one last year and we used it as a "welcome" type mat in front of our tent. We'd take our shoes off on it so we didn't have to wear the shoes into the tent. I think we're going to use these for our flooring under the EZ up.
I would think everyone would know this already but stop at yard sales. I just now got 2 Radio Flyer wagons (great for hauling stuff to Tent Only or Brunch) and a low lawn chair (the type allowed in Centeroo) all for $10.

I just bought a 10'x10' "quest" ez up for $70.00 at Dick's. I also got the tent attachment for it for an extra $30.00. I put it up today and was amazed at the simplicity. We're not bringing a tent because I got this thing. It is sweet. It's basically a 9'x9' tent that you can stand up in. Check it out.

wow that is pretty cool! ^ I'm praying when i set my tent up again when the weather gets warmer it would have any mold... Last year I was down in FL for about a month, so I went to Roo from FL...when I got back to FL after Roo I had to leave to come back to NY so all my camp stuff stayed down in FL since I couldn't bring it all back on the plane...I got the stuff back up here 6 months later and am waiting for some warm weather so I can FINALLY rinse out my tent... that is going to be a dreaded day.

I just got back from WalMart and saw collegiate ez-ups for $70.00. They're online for $130.00 but you may want to check your local Walmart to see if they've got them. I found it in Bloomington, IN.

+1 on this. I've actually found 2 camelbacks in thrift stores. One was used and I bought a new bladder for, but the other was brand new. The end wasn't even cut on the sipper and the instructions were still inside. I felt safe enough using that one without replacing the bladder.
And someone else has mentioned yard sales... Definitely check these. I got a hard shell roof rack container that locks for $30. I used it once, then sold it to a friend that was moving and needed one. And she insisted on paying me more than what I paid for it!
Yard sales and thrift stores are perfect for finding extra findings to toss in your camping box... an extra spoon here, a french press there, an old pot, a colander...
You might also sign up on your local Freecycle (www.freecycle.org) and keep an eye out for what you need.

Nevermind on the Quest EZ UP. I put it up twice to test its durability and it feels like it's gonna fall apart. Sorry for recommending it. I was going more on the pricce than quality. I'm taking it back and buying a real EZ UP.

I just saw at walmart tonight that they had there Ozark Trail tent (I can't remember the exact size-I think 12 x 10-six person if I remember correctly) on sale for $48. I used this last year and it was a breeze to put up and didn't get wet at all. I think the zipper on mine last year was a little f-ed up, but that's because I camp once a year and couldn't figure out how to get it open. I am definitely gonna get another one this year at that price. It was huge.
i need help with the car storage. i have a tiny honda civic, there might be three or four people, including me, so i definitely don't know if it will all fit in my car. i don't have a rack on the roof or a hitch. are the through the car door roof storage units secure? we will be driving nine hours on the highway from the coast of north carolina. plus, my car has side curtain airbags and i heard the the the car door things don't work with that?
Check out this web site. The 10x10 sierra II is a real EZ up and it is only $99. This is the cheapest I have found for a genuine EZup. And if you purchase it before April 4 you receive $15 off.
I know people say not to buy cheap tents for Roo, but I have a tent that has been to 2 Bonnaroos, one all night campout for a basketball game, and one fraternity campout (the boyfriend borrowed it), and it's still doing just fine. I got it at Academy for $40 last year.
not to be mean or anthing but have you really had the same tent if its been to 2 roo's and you got it last year?
