An absolutely amazing book. Ishmael by Daniel Quinn will open your eyes even wider then they may already be open. If you like it then there is a sequel, My Ishmael. If anyone has read this book or ends up reading it, let me know, i'd love to get positive and negative feedback if any.

It is on my list of books to read, but at the moment I have such a huge stack I haven't got to yet, it may be another year or more before I get to it.......
i hate to read...my wife got me to read ishmael and after that i read every single one of Daniel Quinn's books. My Ishmael is actually my favorite but that is just because it beat out Ishmael....thank you for the considerations, trust me it's worth it. The world will thank you. All I ask is that if you like it pass it on. We buy copies for friends every christmas.
It's an amazing book for sure. It really opens your eyes about mankind's place in the world. It's also written brilliantly, anytime I was ever confused, he quickly addressed exactly what I was wondering about. Definitely something to check out
have you read My Ishmael?...i actually like it even more, it addresses some different issues and it is from a young girls perspective, makes me want to keep my future children out of our horrible school system.
I have no idea about the book and I don't want to pre-judge but this post coupled with the avatar message and the signature make it appear kinda culty. You may be overdoing it a bit.
I have books that I recommend to others but I'm wary of anyone who pushes too hard.
go to youtube and search for "ishmael daniel quinn".....what other books can you have people from all around the world read to you, i think it's a great example of the people it has touched
i'm bored so i'm bumping this....if you are an avid reader you can knock this book out in a day easy so give it a try it really made my outlook on our place in this world a little more clear. i'm done promoting in this thread now. thank you for any that have taken up my recommendation and i welcome any messages on your opinion or discussion.
I had read an article about this a bunch of years back, and it made me think about it. I might snag a copy of this off ebay for the hell of it. Put it on the shelf till I'm tempted to pick it up.
The order of the books actually goes Ishamael, The Story of B, and My Ishmael. The Story of B is presented in a different way than the other 2, but is a good read. It's just more about history than present day, if I remember correctly. My Ishmael was my favorite. I read a couple other books of his too. An indication of how much that book affected me... My chinchillas are named Ishmael and Quinn :-P
Thanks for bringing this up, I think I need to revisit these books. Now, what box are they in... hmm...
definitely agree with you on My Ishmael being my favorite...Ishmael was my favorite to begin with and I thought no other could beat it until My Ishmael. His other books are pretty great too..After Dachau is AMAZING and The Holy is Crazy! We hand out Ishmael for Christmas and have thoughts of buying a couple copies for our Roo neighbors this year.
