there has to be some difference though. lets be honest, a dead ticket was $110 with all the fees and charges. they had an "okay" light show, but nothing that warrants the money.
still, i felt it was well spent. the guys must be making bank on this one.
at ACDC, the price was the same, and the production was over the top with pyro and a ridiculous series of set changes - yet i felt unfulfilled and slightly ripped off. go figure.
Phish was $20 back when I used to see them but $50 still seems fair to me. FWIW Bonnaroo was $100 in 2002. I thought it was expensive back then. It's well over $200 now.
Things that don't suck will always get more expensive.
The only exception is the American worker who seems to be working for a lot less these days....but I digress.
The Dead are charging $90. Now THAT'S a ripoff. $50 = reasonable in 2009 for a major 3hr show, imo.
Also, for the previous poster, Phish's website lists them as starting @ 1am on Friday night.
Gotta disagree with you there. Considering how nuts the dead shows have been so far, I'd say 90 bucks is far from a ripoff. $135 for a jimmy Buffett concert...now that's a ripoff, my friend.
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.
while $90 is alot for a show, they sold out every show, and there was almost no resale market. They priced them perfectly from a technical standpoint. If you wanted to go, you could go. I had floor tix for the sunday night show, and balcony for saturday night. I showed the sunday ticket both nights and sat on the floor (not literally). those seats at a phish show would cost at least $500 a piece, unless you pulled off a lottery miracle (yemalope im looking at you).
i totally see 90$ being alot. And feels like too much.
But it was definitely worht every penny. Look at the price of Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stonese, Roger Waters,Elton JOhn/Billy Joel. All well over $100. And the Dead are playing completely different set lists every night. They didn't repeat a song on the tour until the 6th night (2nd set).
If they play over the summer, im dropping $90 for at least 2 more shows in a heartbeat.
I've seen DMB 40 times and never paid $100 for a ticket. $80 max and I was in around the 20th row. I still think $50 is too much but I'll pay it every time for Phish.
well i remember looking for tickets for the recent msg show and tickets were at least $80 plus all the charges so it's a solid 50% more. plus the most comparable band, the dead, and those are $90. and a band that is way crappier than phish like oar sells tix for nearly $40. the $50 price point for phish is a gift.
what do you guys think the chances are of them covering an entire album? Dark Side of The Moon? Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band?
I don't see it happening, them doing a full album that is. If by some remote chance they DID cover one it definately would NOT be DSOTM...main reason being they already did it. SGT. Peppers I also would say definately NOT as they have already done the White Album if anything I think they would cover a band not already done in their Halloween shows like ZEP as people are saying and if I had my choice I'd like to see lll or Physical Grafitti.
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."
I don't really have so much of a problem with the price of the ticket per se, its the FEES!!!! $30 convenience charge? wtf is that? Was there some other less-convenient way to purchase these tickets? If the ticket is $100, just tell me its $100. Don't say its $50 then tack on another $50.
Is that just a way for the bands to say "look, we only want to charge you $50, but these douches at TicketMaster want another $50 too."?
Let's get real, $100 is alot for the Dead. I paid 20 bucks to see the real deal. With Jerry. 20 for my first phish show as well. Both in 1995. It's amazing what scalping/ticketmaster has done to concerts. Fans become complacent with exorbinant prices, and top tier acts charge more and more as ticketmaster steadily increases tgeir fees. 500% in 14 years is not inflation it's price gouging. Take it from me, I know gouging when I see it. ;-p. (I'm looking at you, bonnaroo VIP tix prices)
FTR, I am still goimg to Roo as a VIP, and have thoroughly enjoyed the music coming from Dead tour. That doesn't change my belief that they are both overpriced.
It comes to one undeniable personal decision: What is it worth to you?

Garageland, this is from Phish.com tourdates page, has been up for months. So they say 1am, but they also say showtimes will be announced shortly. They move in mysterious ways, but I'm betting the 1am is pretty close.

face value at the box office for Fenway!!!! that was a nice surprise!

yeah i totally agree with you. i just had a dream and that's what they were playing. but maybe that dream was a premonition that they might be playing an album though? it was only a thought. too be quite honest with you i just hope they wail some classics for us. which i'm not really worried that they won't.
"Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue. It is through disobedience and rebellion that progress has been made." Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), The Soul of Man Under Socialism
"You're either on the bus or off the bus." Ken Kesey
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
Anyone seen the Pancake Mtn. Bonnaroo tip on the site. It says that for a long drive you can catch up on your Phish on the way. They show a picture of CD, it says "1,350 hours of music." Then in parentheses it says 3 songs. Sh*t was funny.
i know ti's not the right place but some friends are looking for some tix to broo on the cheap. any suggestions for where to look besides broo.com forums?

I don't know about a simulcast, but if my motor skills are functional enough, I hope to get some of it on video

I figured surely if they're going to simulcast anything it would be Phish... maybe an email to 'Roo would help? I'm sure they'll be recording it either way so why not stream it?
