I'm making my first trek up to the legendary Electric Factory in Philly to see ma boy Robert. Just had some questions about the venue:
Well, what's it like? Capacity? Bar Access? Security? Smoking?
Any recommendations on where to park would be awesome.
How close can I get to the stage? I guess really what I want to know is how high off the ground the stage is, and whether or not there is a security barrier or what not. The reason I ask is because I plan on taking a Christmas present for the band, and I want to be able to place it on the stage where they'll notice it. Just wondering if that was a viable idea.
There are some people way more qualified to tell you better than myself. My last trip there was to see MSMW two years ago. I liked the venue a lot. The only issue I had was smoking where the smoking section was way to small ... but I heard they fixed that. Parking was a block away we paid $10 bucks for. Secure so we didn't worry too much. Over all I liked it a lot.
I'm sure the are better people to tell you as mine is rather dated.

Yeah, the E. Factory is alright. It's actually one of my least favorite venues here. Security usually isn't too bad. Just don't get caught doing anything you shouldn't be doing, cause you will get kicked out. There is a bar upstairs that's big with stools on the front rails. The good seats go really quickly up there. There's a bar on the right side downstairs too, but it's hard to see the stage from there. There's a front rail by the stage, but it's pretty close to the stage. Hope that helps some.

We were there. We did 2 nights of them at the 9:30 in DC and the third night in Phlly. Good show.
I've been to the E-Factory, but not in a few years. I think it holds about 3500 or so. The stage is maybe 3 or 4 feet of the ground. I do remember there being a barrier in front of the stage. Overall, cool venue, IMO. Although, I much prefer the more intimate TLA.

Really? Have they adjusted the seats in the balcony area? Last time I was there, my knees were in my chest and my then-boyfriend couldn't sit at all b/c there wasn't enough space b/w his seat and the one in front of him.
