Honestly, hey...ITS FRICKEN BONNAROO!!! Go and have fun! thats all I am looking forward to. Last year i went for the "music" and honestly ended up having so much fun that the music became an exta addition on top of the amazing time hanging out and doing my thing. Go have fun, get away from the everyday life, share yourself with your fellow roo man/woman and have a blast. Its only 4 days and back to the daily grind you go..
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!

The first time i set foot on the farm, i looked @ my wife and said that this would be my "mecca". I would travel each summer to the farm and be away from the asses @ work and the stresses of everyday life, it's my 5 days of 365, to myself w/o family and such, to cleanse all the shit that's built up over the last year. This w/b my 5th straight, 2nd solo, and i could care less if anyone else is added, it's all good as it is!
I totally agree! What a bummer the boards have become. Everyone needs to chill and remember why we go to the farm. I love falling off the earth for 5 days. This will be my 6th trip to the farm and my anticipation is just as high as it always is. I can not wait to hang with my friends and my soon to be new friends that I know I will meet just like I do every year. The music is the reason we attend every year but once you on the farm and that vibe kicks in I really could care less who is on the stage. Sometimes we take our selves and our musical tastes to seriously. I can not wait! Bonnarooooooooo!

I wish I could give karma to all of you supporting Bonnaroo. So... I gave it to the starter of this thread. Last year was my first, and I had a freakin' blast. I can't wait for this year... My Morning Jacket late night, thats all I need, and yet I'm getting so much more.

I love the atmosphere at Bonnaroo, but the music is a huge part of it for me. I go to have fun and to meet people, but I mainly go to see music. This years lineup simply is not cutting it for me in any way, shape or form. I really wanted to go this year, but the lineup has discouraged me to the point that I have totally lost my enthusiasm for the festival in general. I could go despite being disappointed, but it wouldn't be the same, and I'm not so sure the time, money, and effort is worth it this year.
^^exactly, and you only get to be young or capable of doing this sort of stuff for a limited time in your life so do it, go have a blast...if its money your worried about, there will always be a way...always! I am going to have a great time, going to drink tons of beer and meet tons of new people, just like I did last year. Yes the music is great, but the atmosphere, the fact that this place is a factor to be able to come and enjoy is the real reason we all come, the Music is just the glue that bonds us all (maybe we have different taste, but overall it music that is the glue) dont loose hope there will still be plenty of people there to help you in your journey to have FUN and get away!.. this is my vacation and I am going to make it the best damn 4-5 days of my fucking YEAR!!!

I agree with you, and I hope you have the time of your life at Bonnaroo. It just isn't going to work for me this year, perhaps I will head down to ACL instead.
This is a great thread....Having the ABB cancel was bad news but honestly, I saw them play in 2005 and it was great but my main reasons to go aren't purely the bands themselves. This years line-up in my own opinion is better the ever. That's just me. But the Roo is about the mecca from everyday life to the life we all truly want to live. I get tired of everyone beyotching about Metallica and WSP...get over it.

??? Im shocked beyond belief right now...
If you dont like the lineup that much then why would you think about going? Why would you spend time going on this website to tell us that you dont like the lineup. This lineup has everything, I dont care if its not like the old Bonnaroo and they have gone more mainstream because its a business and they are not going to keep it a secret and not bring in popular bands to keep some people happy when they could make alot more money bringing in those bands. I dont think Roo has even gone mainstream, sure Kanye West is mainstream and on the radio but he is different then other mainstream rap that you hear on the radio (thank god Lil Wayne wont be there). There is something for everyone here, there will be some music legends here, I mean absolute rock n roll gods (Plant, White, Vedder, Lesh, Helm, King, Nelson, and hate me or love em Metallica). I dont see how anyone could say this lineup sucks I just dont see it other than Headliners sets wont be too crowded because there will be so much variety (a huge plus). I havent even mentioned the fact that were gonna be on a farm in Tenn for 4 days with 80000 people.
If your not excited about the lineup and your gonna be negative then dont go, your the type of person that everyone worried about ruining the vibes at Bonnaroo that very few fests have, not Metallica fans not Kanye fans its the people that are negative about everything, if your gonna go and complain then why spend 400+ dollars? Its foolish.
also ive never seen Widespread Panic before and Ive heard they play a great show. Is them being there really going to make people b!tch? I mean couldnt you just choose to not see them and chill for a little while or even leave early? I dont understand why people would complain about anything thats gonna be at Roo because there is so much to do and so much to see thats its quite easy to spend 3 hours not listening to a band that you dont want to listen to.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
I'm so glad that this thread was started. I kept feeling so bummed out that everyone was complaining about how they didn't like the additions or that the crowd is going to be different this year. Bonnaroo is such an amazing experience in its self that the music really only amplifies the weekend there. It's the weekend that I look forward to all year and the weekend that I wish would happen all over again as soon as I leave. If anything, we should embrace everyone who may be new to the bonnaroo scene and show them what its all about. I can't wait to pull into the farm and have the best time ever!

Just ask yourself
Would I rather be sitting on my couch watching re runs
or at Bonnaroo?
Just think about it. Pretty simple. I was un happy with the lineup, and really bummed about The Allman Brothers canceled. But we get Les and WSP. on top of some other solid additions (though, not for me.)
And the money situation will work itself out. Just make sure you have money to get there, and a gas money stash saved. All will be worked out from there.
Thanks for the Karma, I was bummed too, I felt betrayed and then even got a bit bitter and was like I many not come back. I sat back and said to myself...what the hell is wrong with you? Your complaining about musicians, its the whole experience baby the whole experience, one that just calls to you when june is getting nearer. Hell January hits and I am drooling! I so stoked Roo=Mecca for me. I cant wait to crack open my first beer on the farm right after I set up and then proceed to having a blast. I love all the crazies, hippies, normals, I love them all because they all want what I want to have a great time. Hell yeah!!!
BonnnnnnaaaaRooooo! Its going to be a blast no matter who is playing you will be free to choose and just be FREE away from all the BS for 5 days away from all the fucking drama, away from bills, work, kids, hell you dont even have to DRIVE Anywhere for four days!
Have fun and good vibes baby!!!! Nothing but GOOOODD VIBES!!!

I've been to festivals before, but never to Bonnaroo, so perhaps I'm not the best qualified person to be making this assessment, but here's my two cents anyway:
I prefer the headliners of some of the previous years. Franz Ferdinand, The White Stripes and Radiohead are probably my three favorite bands still making music. I don't hate any of this year's headliners like so many people. Yeah, I'm not too keen on Metallica like a lot of you, but so be it, if that is what the Roo gods have decided. There are plenty of great artists on that line-up to satisfy me. BB King, Sigur Ros, Death Cab for Cutie, Plant and Krauss... if you went and saw all those artists at their individual concerts, that would set you back almost as much as a ticket to Bonnaroo. Factor in a bunch of great, lesser-known acts, and you've got yourself one hell of a festival. I'm not going to Bonnaroo solely for the headliners. I'm going so I can go see some musicians that I love, discover some musicians I didn't know I loved, meet some great people, and just let the bare-foot, free-spirited, peace-loving hippie inside me reign supreme for a weekend on a farm in Tennessee. For every artist listed on the bill who I don't know that well, I've been heading over to YouTube and checking out their stuff. I had barely heard the name Umphrey's McGee before the line-up came out, and now I'm psyched to see them. For me, Alison Krauss used to be just some country/bluegrass musician that my mom listened to, until I checked out her stuff and was surprised to find I actually liked it. I find things like Bonnaroo are generally whatever you make of them. If you go and expect to have a bad time, you probably will, and vice-versa. So don't spoil my good vibes with your negative karma, maaaaaan...
