Please correct me if I am wrong, but in years past, didn't the pre-headliners go on at about 6:30 or 7:00 as opposed to "sunset" which is more like 8:00? This is why I am worried about a shorter PJ set.

another obsessed pearl jam fan checking in. as much as i don't want to see jack johnson this could be a good thing if he tends to play much shorter sets than the allman brothers. since headliners dont have time limits i was really hoping i'd get to see pearl jam play for close to 4 hours. i just dont know if they'd play that long at a festival where not everyone in attendance is necessarily a fan of theirs.
Well they have limits I am pretty sure the what stage closes down at midnight because of concerns of noise in the surrounding communities .

But that is exactly what I am worried about, the announcement stated that Jack Johnson will start playing at sunset, not play through sunset. By starting at sunset, he is essentially taking away time from PJ... IF they keep to ending the What Stage at 11:30/12:00, now, if they want to let PJ go until 1 or 2 am on the What Stage, that would rock and be quite alright with me, but Jack starting at sunset (8:00pm) ending at even 9:30pm, lets PJ start at 10:00pm and end at 11:30-12:00??? 1.5 hours to 2 hours of PJ only??? NO BUENO!!!

ok - so can I please then complain that Jack Johnson will not get enough time on stage since he is no longer headlining on Sunday night??? Facts are - we are not gonna know for sure until the release the schedule and then we can all b*itch, gripe and complain

If there's one thing I've learned in the past 24 hours, it's that Superfly does not take a lot of care in choosing their words. Thus, I wouldn't worry about "sunset" just as we shouldn't have worried about "big" or "exciting".
Beginning at sunset does not necessarily mean the official sunset time. As we all know twilight starts a considerable amount of time before the time the sun actually sets on the horizon which is the official sunset time.
Of course it is possible that whoever wrote the web posts did not do a good job and what they actually meant was that he will be playing at sunset.
Everything will be sorted out in just a few weeks when the official schedule is posted.

Read this carefully:
Jack Johnson has chosen to join his friends Pearl Jam on the main stage Saturday night stepping into the slot vacated by the Allmans. Jack will perform beginning at sunset, to be followed by Pearl Jam's closing main stage set.
He won't start at the exact moment of sunset ... and I can't believe that people are freaking out over this. He'll have the pre-headliner slot on Saturday night. It'll be the same slot that Ben Harper had last year.
The message is worded quite strangely. It definitely says starting at sunset, but I'm not taking that too literally. My guess is, it'll be a standard pre-headliner, whatever time that may start. The sun will be starting to go down by that time, it won't officially be sunset, but the sun will be setting. By the time he wraps it up, it'll be dark and Pearl Jam will have a regular headliner set. So yeah, in short, I'm chalking this one up to a liberal use of the word sunset.
I really can't imagine Superfly wanting to take away any time from what is surely going to be one of the most memorable shows ever. There is no doubt in my mind that Pearl Jam is going to put on one of the best shows they've ever done. I know that is setting a pretty high standard, but it really seems as if Bonnaroo is the perfect setting for a Pearl Jam show and it's going to lead to something special.

Pearl Jam freak here knows that this will be like 2005 when ABB opened for Dave Matthews. They won't cut into the start time of Pearl Jam (or atleast they better quackin not). They will give PJ the 3 hours they need to rock our...
