so my understanding is that Jack's set will begin at sunset, which is when, close to 8? is this going to make pearl jam's set really short, or will they go after midnight? cause a pearl jam show can easily go over 3 hours, and a jack johnson show can go for around 2, i'm really confused about what the hell bonnaroo is doing this year, i'm not even sure they know what they're doing, and widespread, again, i'm not hating because i like widespread, i don't love them, but their 05 roo shows blew me away, and while i still respect everything about them, with the other festies lineups this year, bonnaroo clearly does not have the best, however, it is bonnaroo, and it will be great no matter what, anyone could find anything to do, bonnaroo has like 10 times as many things to do than every other festival i know of, but c'mon bonnaroo, it seems like to me that they didn't even try this year
hm.. i hope they don't cut PJ time. I thought they would give us a full length killer set. Maybe JJ brings out Vedder and they play through some Into the Wild or something?
Being one of the Die Hard PJ fans that Becca refers too I can confirm that I would be REALLY REALLY dissapointed if the sets were to overlap or PJs set were to be shortened in any way. This plus the whole Widespread Panic thing is really hurting my excitment level for Roo. It was sky high a week ago and now I just have a sick feeling in my stomach. Im sure everything will turn out great but right now this just sucks.
I have a feeling Jack Johnson will go on a little earlier than 8. Even if he does start at 8, he can play by himself until about 9:30, do some stuff with Eddie until 10 and then Pearl Jam can play. If this happens, don't be surprised if Pearl Jam goes past midnight. They've never been a band to shy away from breaking curfews. At their shows in arenas with curfews, they rotate which band member will cover the fines for playing late.
As a really, really big Pearl Jam fan, who is coming down from Canada for this festival mainly because of them, I can say that I would be a little disappointed if Pearl Jam only got a two hour set. Especially because in two of the three Pearl Jam shows I've seen they were opening for Tom Petty and got short sets. But, I would never let it affect my experience at Bonnaroo because I'm a music lover and there is so much music to enjoy there.
'Jack Johnson has chosen to join his friends Pearl Jam on the main stage Saturday night stepping into the slot vacated by the Allmans.'
i was under the impression that ABB was gonna be the main stage slot before pearl jam. its says jack stepped into this slot. wouldn't that just be the normal pre-headline slot on the main stage? am i wrong?

^^^That's what I think, too. The word "join his friends" and "starting at sunset" are very confusing, but I think they mean to say simply that JJ will be the pre-headliner on Saturday.
Really, just so long as JJ doesn't cut into PJ's time, I'd be fine... I'll just do the same as I did during Ben Harper's pre-Police set last year; sit my ass at camp and party early.

i am one of the "obsessed PJ fans" for sure..but i think this could be really cool. i was hoping jack and eddie would get thier collab on. now this seals it. PJ's set will be plenty long. there is ZERO chance anyone will walk away unsatisfied.
and this maybe makes some into the wild material (with eddie and JJ) a lottle more likely to happen..which would be the bomb. at the very least, itll give me a chance to rest a little before the PJ extravoganza.
I think everyone's trying too hard to be sunset experts. It's the same pre-mainstage slot it's always been. Maybe some merging now, which would be cool, but nobody's losing anything.
another obsessed pearl jam fan checking in. as much as i don't want to see jack johnson this could be a good thing if he tends to play much shorter sets than the allman brothers. since headliners dont have time limits i was really hoping i'd get to see pearl jam play for close to 4 hours. i just dont know if they'd play that long at a festival where not everyone in attendance is necessarily a fan of theirs.
I am totally pumped to be able to see one of my favorite solo artists followed by one of my favorite all time bands. Looks like I'll be glued to the main stage on Saturday. My only complaint is that I wont get a good spot for Phil and Friends set. Oh well, i giuess that's what Rothbury is for....

I am one of those HUGE PJ fans, and I also like JJ, but I would be pissed beyond belief if JJ comes on at sunset (8pm ish) and makes PJ not come on until 10ish. I was hoping for a preheadliner to go on at like 6 or 6:30pm like they usually do, and PJ go on at 8:30 or 9pm and give us an EPIC 3-3.5 hour set. As their "Big" announcement makes it sound though, JJ will be starting much later than any normal pre-heaadliner, and taking lots of time away from PJ

I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that originally it was going to be Allman Bros and then PJ on Saturday with Jack playing Sunday. Out with Allmans, switch in Jack Johnson, replace Jack's spot with WSP and nothing changes. It's not going to effect Pearl Jam's set

except hopefully make it longer since jj probably won't play as long as abb would have
obsessed PJ fans are gonna be PO'd if JJ cuts into PJ time.
they definately will. seriously now who boos my morning jacket.
Where did PJ fans boo MMJ? When I saw them open for PJ in Jersey, they showed nothing but love considering MMJ was AMAZING. That was the first time I had seen MMJ and I was absolutely blown the F away.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but in years past, didn't the pre-headliners go on at about 6:30 or 7:00 as opposed to "sunset" which is more like 8:00? This is why I am worried about a shorter PJ set.
