James Blake was so gooood. I saw half his set at Shaky Knees in 2015, but left underwhelmed (looking back I split the set with Brand New, which isn’t a good look in 2019 😬). But this time I was second row and had a blast.
Also saw Local Natives in a tiny ass venue on Friday & the were fantastic. Seeing Childish Gambino tomorrow. Very excited.
I do wish I didn’t drink so much tonight. It’s a Tuesday and I have work and Childish tomorrow. So it’s gonna be a looooong couple of days.
I was watching your snap story while getting ready for work this morning, looked like a good time. Weird feeling watching your story being two mins old as I am brushing my teeth at 7:20 in the morning.

The best was when I visited here in 2016 and I went out and my roommate in Austin was watching my snaps at 8am while she was waiting for her sisters graduation to start. 😂

Local Natives are always a good time.
I don’t think I had ever seen them. I went to this kind of on a whim bc it was cheap they played a 500 person venue, and they really impressed me.
PUP was great on Sunday. The setlist was heavy on Morbid Stuff, but I was more than okay with that. I think it was their biggest hometown show to date, so that was cool too.
Also, shout out to whoever designed their merch. The Godzilla in a Raptors jersey design is 👌
Black midi with 100 other people was brutal. Someone brought their 14 year old nephew for his first concert. Seeing him sit on a subwoofer a foot from the guitarist and have his mind blown was great. Got a little bruised up trying to prevent the moshers from falling on him. Black midi jams so well, multiple moments where they all just closed their eyes and went off the rails.
Nilufer Yanya and Pixx were awesome in Cleveland last night. Nilufer's got a tight band and has such a unique way of playing guitar, it's really something to see. That sax is stellar too! Pixx really blew me away as well. They've got a jammy, Devo-esque sound that takes a tons of twists and turns. Definitely would recommend seeking out both bands if they're ever in your area

Just bought a ticket to see her tonight. Wasn't going to see the opener but now I'll try to get there a little earlier than I had planned.
idles was batshit crazy, one of the best crowds ive seen. ran into someone i met at mad cool last year. fuck nazi punks fuck off. did not expect some lizzo mixed in and for some dude to come onstage and sing purple rain. sound a little muddled but show was streamed. time stamped for lizzo and other bs

Saw the Growlers last night at Variety Playhouse ATL. Didn't really know a lot going into it but left a big fan. The show progressively got more rowdy as it went and by the end there were crowdsurfers dancing on stage with the singer.
GYBE last night. 2 new songs. Not as mammoth as usual. Pretty chill, clean guitar leads/violin. Luciferian Towers was the mammoth last night.
The show wasn’t a particularly positive look at America today. It was dark and dissonant and often immelodic (word?). It was a much darker version of them than the 2017 Day for Night show even if they covered some of the same ground.

Just saw King Gizz play all of Infest The Rats Nest and woooow do these guys continue to impress. There was a lot of love for an album that just came out the day of, I think it’s a bit of an instant classic in their discography.
Seventh time seeing them so it was nice to get loads of new songs and some rarities throughout the set.
Did you not find it almost sort of foreboding for them? I loved the show too, but it was super f'n dark.
I didn't feel that way about the new songs. The other stuff did soubd different. Like it was missing the high swells. I didn't even recognize Mladic and it's one of my favorites.

It was my first time seeing them, so it was perfect for me.
I hear you. I'm not the resident expert (probably sang would be), as I've only seen them twice. Maybe it's because the first time I saw them was at a festival with a more condensed timeslot, it didn't come off quite as brooding to me. I'm not making a value a judgment in saying that one approach was better than the other, because I dug both shows. I guess standing up by the front of the stage and watching them perform was a vastly different experience than sitting in the back of a dark theater taking in the visuals and shadowiness of this particular tour.
Vampire Weekend is pretty good. Wish we could have gotten a better cover than Don't Dream it's Over. Diane Young was a standout. New Dorp is fucking great.
Flying Lotus was so fun last night! My girlfriend who didn't really know anything about him might've enjoyed it more than I did, I was surprised. Thought the 3D would be cheesy but it wasn't at all. Hannibal Buress surprised everyone and did some stand up for like 20ish minutes. Also, normally I don't show up for openers unless I know who they are, but the openers for this tour are really fun, recommend going early to see them too if you have tickets to see him in the future.
I saw The Hold Steady today and of course I love them very dearly so I don’t need to say much about the show but I would like to shout out the following people standing near me:
-The 5’0” woman standing next to me who very loudly yelled out “GETTING NAILED AGAINST DUMPSTERS BEHIND TOWNIE BARS” during “One For the Cutters” -The couple in front of me who double fisted beers the entire show -The dude who threw out handmade confetti during the final six songs -The guy who at least looked...uh, significantly older than Craig Finn who started pushing to the front when they started playing “Stuck Between Stations”
Just got back from Flying Lotus. Got there real late due to prior commitments so we only got like four songs, but then after his encore he brought out Tierra Whack (in town for Made in America), and she performed a couple songs and crowdsurfed. It was quite a way to cap off the evening.
