Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
It was great to be able to meet you and hang out with all the inforoosters. With all the negativity bubbling to the surface (weather, roads, wait time, etc), I still think it was a great fest. Sometimes all the hardships just make you appreciate the good stuff more.

Langerado... Body: To all those who spent their valuable time and effort in traveling and attending our planned performance at the Langerado Music Festival in Florida on the 8th of March,2008, we would like to express our most sincere regret over its unavoidable cancellation. Through no fault of either party (the Avetts or the festival authorities/representatives), the schedule was changed due to outside events. Sadly, an auto-accident occurred on the road leading into the festival grounds. At the time of this writing, we are without any information pertaining to the nature and/or severity of the crash. In any event, our hopes and prayers are with those involved.
Lastly, we want you all to know that we will be back to southern Florida as soon as we are able. Thanks for understanding and we'll see you all very soon...THE AVETT BROTHERS.

According to the company, they buy airtime from other cell companies and if there is ANY cell coverage in an area, their phones will work. I use this phone because I don't talk on it that much and I can buy 150 minutes of airtime for $15 and have 60 days to use it, so I sometimes only spend $7.50 a month for service. Unused minutes roll-over too, as long as you don't let time/minutes run out. They have these phones at many Wal-marts and K-marts. The one I use is available at WM for $30 and comes with 300 minutes included, so you basicly get the phone for free: www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=449051 So, if you know you're not going to have service, I would recommend picking one up. I will verify that it works there once I get there (around 6 pm Tues.) and get the word out.

1. hunger strike was ridiculous 2.the gator was also ...ridiculous 3.the drum circle..i saw it for like 5min on saturday...it was..ridiculous!! hahah
Just got home and have to say, we had a damn good time Thursday through Saturday. We lucked out with awesome neighbors and rocked our asses off. Headliners kicked it out something serious in my opinion. Really fantastic to see a stellar BBoys performance and REM was in solid form. Ghostland Observ put on an excellent show. Earl Greyhound was fantastic. Arrested Development was also a real highlight. Claypool never disappoints and we were elated to have just barely made it in time. The Thievery Corp. set was not as good as last time we saw them, but the new set (new to us anyway) from The Roots killed.
Some time on Sunday, though, the worm started to turn. Some of the (ahem) "vendors" selling their wares by whisper and a word went from their normal passive background mode of "I'm just mumbling about what I have" into hyper-aggressive sales modes. One guy on shakedown actually tried to hard-sell me for almost a block because he thought we looked "bored" and needed his help. He got downright insulting, worse than used car sales. More than one person walked into our campsite and gave us sales pitches "half price!" "last chance!" "you've never seen stuff this good!" etc. etc. Not just offering or asking, mind you, but aggressively pitching. The market was saturated, overly flush, especially with particular products, and sellers were getting desperate.
That aggressiveness was not jiving well with our more mellow disposition and frame of mind and started to weird us out. We met and talked with one poor fellow, nice smart and very cool guy, who had been eaten alive by ants pretty badly, then later had lost control of himself and gotten violent, had to be subdued by security, taken to the hospital, etc. I don't know if there was a bad batch of something going around or it was the combo with the fireant poison (this poor fellow was eaten all up both legs and all of one side of his body), but he had a bad time of it.
Then the security crackdown at the gates on Sunday... I look pretty square and chat up the security whenever I go through, so usually I never get more than a cursory glance in my bags, but Sunday they took my bag apart, opened up seven of the nine compartments, checked out my blanket and poncho, etc... So, I stop immediately after the gate and take my time getting my bag put back together and listen to the security folks. Lots of smuggled beer, of course, but also a lot of problems with weapons. Come to find out they had confiscated a number of serious knives and at least a couple of guns.
So we try to shake it off, watch some Keller, chill, chat with some folks, walk around a bit, see some of the Blind Melon set and are about to head over to catch the last bit of Anni and we just kind of looked at each other and said "we're done." We get back to campsite with less than an hour of sunlight left and find all the neighbors we knew and met and had made friends with were gone, except one about four campsites over. All the folks we had helped to stake downa down and tie down their tents when the wind picked up were no longer there, and it looked like a bit of a ghost town around us. It took us 30 minutes to break camp and we tore out like bats out of hell.
Not sure why, but Sunday just creeped the crap out of us.
We had an awesome time, though, overall, and thought the festival in general went pretty well. We probably saw more folks past their limits at Langer than we had at Bonnaroo or at Echo, but we never saw anybody who looked hurt or likely to get hurt and people mostly were looking out for each other. The festival food was mediocre compared to other fests we had been at, but the Arepas were awesome and some of the glass artwork (pendants, bracelets, etc.) were really incredible.
Overall, a great time and we will probably go back if the lineup is solid next year, but might do either the RV or VIP thing just to help alleviate the possibility that we might get as weirded out on Sunday next year.
