Someone told me Rage was playing Voodoo, and I did not, could not believe him until I checked the computer myself. My jaw was completely dropped by this lineup. I'm a New Orleans boy born and raised, so I will be there. I've already requested off of work for this. A few of the bands really pushed this lineup to be great for me. Toubab, Tiesto, and the fact that Lyrics Born will be there with Galactic (really hoping that some other MC's will come out during this set)

OK, Vegoose just got punted - Rage? In NOLA? Two of my favorite things???? Hot Damn!!! ;D Already got my revs at the Marriot (great location BTW !)
Is that the Downtown Marriott on Canal Street? That's where I'm booked. Did you get the 'Voodoo Music Experience' rate ($135/night)? Even my Harrah's card couldn't get me that sweet a deal!
Nashvllbound & her old roommate are set to come in as well and stay with friends. She's excited to finally meet some Inforooers (and frankly deserves a little happy time after the year she's had ).
Hmmm..... sorely tempted. Never been to Orleans, so any concert 'downtime' would be well spent. Shorter flight than Vegoose. Good price.. might even buy my limit, then scalp what I don't use (or give a pair to a friend that missed 'Roo ).
And of course, any excuse to dress as a pirate! YARrharhahrahrahrharhahraARRRRRR!!!!!
Sppoky - you could always fly into Jackson and go with us

Yep, that's the deal I got, and yes, that rate for that hotel that time of year is a steal!! ;D I think they might still be trying to lure people back too....I know I haven't been back since Katrina so it will be a bit of a bittersweet trip for me....
Yes, I am looking forward to FINALLY meeting some Inforoosters too! Maybe by staying in the same hotel I'll camp out in the lobby and make you guys trip over me on the way out!
EDIT: If you are thinking of flying in, check out Southwests rates, I am looking at $120 round trip from B'ham, taxes and all! I doubt I could drive it for that, let alone the time......

Ahhh - but the Days Inn on Canal is just $58.00 a night on Expedia - LOL much better rate - a 5 blcok walk down Canal but worth the savings

Aren't you the bargain hunter! Good for you! I remember seeing the Days Inn....does it have a shuttle to the fest too? If not, just walk down to the Marriot and ride with us!
I just booked my flight....you guys have a pretty short drive from Jackson, only about 4 hours or so isn't it or is it that long? I don't think I actually come through Jackson when I drive, I know Meridian is about 4-4.5 hours and Hattisburg is about 3ish ....it's a good long 7 from here......

It is about 2 1/2 - 3 depending on your license plates - LOL and that is a great idea about walking down to the Marriott and just riding with ya'll - that would be the way to go - but we may stay with Meredith and drive in each day just to save money - we'll see - Boz's birthday is 10/28 so this will be a birthday present - hmmmm he got Bonnaroo for Father's Day and Voodoo for his birthday - he is racking up - Christmas better be really really good for me

Hey Meg... I am sure you have talked to Boz tonight... I had no idea you guys lived so close! We had a long long chat today in the Tobacco store that I work in... I have seen him many times but I had never put 2 and 2 together... He told me about Voodoo Fest and when I heard Smashing Pumpkins and Rage Against the Machine I almost cried! Those are 2 bands I thought I would never get to see in my life! Now they have reunited and are coming to New Orleans! I will defiantly be heading down there for the concert! Hope to see you guys there!
^^^^Yeah he told me - I got quite a chuckle over it actually! Yeah - I think what has me going about Voodoo Fest is the opportunity to see Rage mostly - also The Black Crowes - since we missed them at Jubilee Jam while we were at Bonnaroo

wow, RATM at Voodoo Music Festival? Thats actually pretty close to me compared to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, NYC, etc. I don't really care about the rest of the line up, I just know that I must see Rage Against the Machine live, because if I miss this chance (which could be the only one I get), I would regret it forever. Does anyone know if I could get some kind of a one day pass instead of the weekend one?
Don't know about single day passes....tix don't go onsale till Friday and they have prices set at $20-$420 right now on Ticketmaster...I am assuming $20 is for a parking pass - LOL and even THAT is cheap for a NOLA parking pass! But who knows....they might have single day passes available.....
I am with you on absolutely HAVING to see RATM (this may be our last chance!) and since I love going to NOLA too...it was a no brainer for me! The only missing link is the actually festie tix now...got my hotel, my plane tix, got my vacay approved today..... outside chance I might get press, but not taking any chances....
Hmmm, good question....don't know if that is a special promo price or not....didn't go last year so I don't have a reference point on if they went up or not....I'm planning on hitting the website at 10 minutes before they go onsale and pinging it till I get through.....just in case ;D....does anyone have a pre-order code or did they give one out?
Post by spookymonster on Jun 26, 2007 20:42:35 GMT -5
Amex doesn't appear to have a preorder for this event. Me & the missus plan on doing pretty much the same thing: slamming the site & the phone until one of us gets thru.
Interesting trivia from last year......they sold some early tix for $25....before they went up to $100......so maybe those $20 tix are REAL tix......???
^^^ well - I will have to wait an additional week - nothing I can do about it - have to pay $600 to get my van out of the shop on Friday - besides - am gonna talk to my mother-in-law about it and see if she will buy Boz's ticket for him as a birthday present.
i'll be purchasing friday morning, everyone at work is used to me completely stopping with all the work on my desk to get a good price on concert tix.....they've all learned that they have to wait....
"White collar conservative flashin down the street, pointing that plastic finger at me, they all assume my kind will drop and die, but I'm gonna wave my freak flag high." Jimi Hendrix
You are lucky that you can do it from work...I could at my old job....where I work now I can't surf "non work" sites at all! And they just got worse, if that is possible.... Forget that I logged in from friggin' Bonnaroo to bail their butts out of a bind!
I'll be taking an early lunch and heading home to get my tix.....sigh. The things we do.....they couldn't have gone on sale on one of my off Fridays......

Every day?
yep, you'll see people dressed up everyday. It's really awesome Voodoo is three days this year.. last year it was only two! But yeah, my boyfriend and I plan on driving in everyday I think, since we live in Gulfport, which is a 45 min. drive. But it depends if we get to work Voodoo and be runners, so I kinda hope that goes through so we'll get back stage passes and all the amenities like we did last year! I can't wait to see you guys there!!

how long are the sets for headliners? i think this might be my only chance to see 2 of my old favorite bands and i as somebody else said in here i would regret missing this for the rest of my life. this is gonna be the best few days late birthday present to myself

Just got a text alert from Ticketmaster. Tix go on sale 6/29 @ 9am CDT. However, there also appears to be a $85 presale going on. Haven't found out who is sponsoring it yet. More details as they appear.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
aww man - really really sucks - but still gonna have to wait to get my tickets and prolly pay a ridiculous price for them - but real life interfers with my music life and my van is inthe shop and will cost about $600
you are an absolute lifesaver! Spooky, you just saved me and my friends a ton of money, as well as the the fear that we might not get the $100 tickets! Karma definitely coming your way!

Still haven't heard any official announcement on the presale. I just lucked out on the password, BTW. It happens to be the same password they used for presales last year .
