smurf you can always watch the drunks in the quarter..almost as much fun as a hockey game
while that is a good time, hockey is about the only thing i'll pass up good music for....plus its the home openers with my new team...can't miss it....but i'll definitely get drunk, shout obscenities and think of you guys that weekend. i may try to make it for friday night, depends on who's playing tho....

so. i got my plane tickets. and festival tickets.
the fun part? we fly in on wednesday so we have a couple days before [and the day afterwards] to roam throughout all around. any suggestions as to what to do?
I am pondering the thought of going, though if I go, I may not be able to go to Bonnaroo unless I find another job since I would have used my one week vacation. Any know how long the sets run?
Ouch! 'Roo vs VooDoo...hard choice...man! Don't envy you....
Here's to hoping you can do both ;D I'll try to find out the set lengths...couldn't find anything just right off the bat and the schedule didn't come out till September last year (YUCK!) I want to say that I heard someplace that it was around an hour and a half for headliners...but don't hold me to that....I can't say where I remember seeing or hearing that....
^ I know, but I would like to try a different festival. I can always wait until next year when I have two weeks vacation. I guess I have to sleep on this one.

When do your personal/vacation days reset? I mean, Voodoo is in 2007, while Bonnaroo is 2008. At my job, our PV days 'refresh' on January 1 of the new year; any unused days (above a certain limit) are lost, and you're "day bank" fills up for the new year. Unless, of course, you mean you're borrowing from 2008 to do Voodoo. IMHO, if you can only do one, save 'em for Bonnaroo... it wouldn't be the same without your magical dress-stealing backpack .
I think I posted a thread over on Voodoo with last year's schedule in it - that might give you some kinda idea - from my understanding - it is alot different from Bonnaroo - shorter sets that are well times because it does not go all night - when it says it is over - it will be over - alot of the bands will move on to clubs and bars in The French Quarter and play the night away though

Haha..well, my vacation time kicks in the week I was hired full-time, which is the last week of august and carrys over the next year until august. So, I have a year to use it, but like i said, after next august, i pick up an extra week vacation.So maybe I am better off waiting a year.
makes sense to me - I work for the gov't - so I earn 4 hours per pay period and can use them anytime after I earn them - they are not just randomly given to me but Boz's renew in January (I think)

My current company does vacation from July 1-June 30....very strange. All my other companies did Jan 1-Dec 31 - calendar years. I get all mine in one lump at the beginning and can use it any time. I am up to 18 days now, and I can carry over up to 80 hours from the previous year. Thanks to a buttload of comp time this year (due to completely unncessary fires and poor planning on the part of others AHEM!) and an alternate work schedule with 9 hour days and every other Friday off - I managed to carry over 77.9 hours from this year.....So that means I have roughly 28 days of vacation for the coming year..... ;D AND every other Friday off....And no sign of let up in that accumulation of comp time (which can only build up to 40 hours before I HAVE to start taking it off....) sigh....
The really cool thing about this company is that they start giving you your extra earned vacation days one per year instead of making you wait the usual five years to earn the next week. So after one year with the company you get one extra day of vacay, after two, you get two...etc. It adds up to the same thing, but you don't have to wait for it.....
