Weren't there a boatload of arrests at this festival last year? It's only two hours from my place, but if there's going to be a bad vibe and people getting cuffed left and right, I'd rather stay home.

I didn't see anyone getting arrested and I wasn't bothered and neither were any of the people I went with. My main complaint would've been where they hold the late night shows, they need to put in some windows or put a/c in there because it was just way too hot.

Noooo, why must it be so close to roo. Sweet lineup, for anyone going i highly suggest catching the wailers. I almost skipped their show, but im glad i caught it, i was definatly pleasantly suprised.

Damn someone beat me to starting this one... and yes, Summercamp and Wakarusa were the big busts of last summer... Dunno alot of details about summercamp but i did hear alot of stories about kids being stupid and ODing and getting all dehydrated and sh*t which may have added to the heat... Also may have heard something about the town constantly battling them and looking for excuses, dont know details maybe someone can chime in...
Very solid lineup, doubt i'll make it a priority but its a possibility...

Yeah, I think I heard the town was freaking out over something like 90 or so OD's. I'm not really sure what it was they OD'ed on or if it was dehydration or heat stroke or something like that. So that's like 1% of the people there, at festivals there are always going to be people who take it to the extreme.Even though it is a somewhat of a small town and I can see where 90 kids overdosing doesn't seem like such a cool thing to them to be associated with. As far as the cops all I can is I didn't have any problems but I did hear some stories.

Well if 1% of the people there get hauled off in ambulances the local community is going to step in... 1% isnt alot percentage wise but thats ALOT of kids getting sick and eventually the people dealing with these kids (paramedics, doctors, police) who are all coming from the same place are going to do something about it...
I just got the idea from what i heard that it wasnt bad sh*t, or even "hard" drugs that was the problem it was just DUMB kids who either dont know what they're getting into or just plain raged too hard... There will always be a sketch factor at pretty much any fest but when that many people are in need of medical attention its going to become a problem...
I mean, its not like Wakarusa had a huge problem with stuff like that... Mostly chiggers and your normal dehydration/freakouts kinda stuff... Rumour has it that Summercamp was a different ballgame... Like i said i dont know the details first hand, i wasnt there...

I will probably be going back to this fest this year. I didn't go last year but I did go for the two years before that. I love this fest, the lineup, and the fact that it is so close. I didn't go last year because of all the arrests I saw the year before. I was hiking all my gear in and on my way in I saw five people being taken out in handcuffs. Not a great way to start the weekend. I don't like the vibe undercover cops bring to a fest.
I think I am going to try it again though. I missed this fest. It was starting to become a tradition to start the festy season off with summercamp. I don't want some cops to ruin my tradition.
