10,000 Lakes Festival Heads Into Fifth Year with Jam Heavyweights Minnesota Music Festival Confirms Initial Lineup and Dates for 2007 Event; Hosts Weekend of Musical Bliss July 18 – 21
The fifth annual 10,000 Lakes Festival (10KLF) will provide an unforgettable weekend of live musical performances and campout experiences held July 18 – 21 at the scenic Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. A yearly tradition for music lovers nationwide, 10KLF has quickly established itself as a premier festival destination.
The initial festival artist lineup includes members of the Grateful Dead and Phish leading their contemporary ensembles, along with a diverse cross-section of talent from the improvisational music scene. With dozens of bands still to be added in the coming months, the 10,000 Lakes Festival preliminary lineup includes:
Bob Weir & RatDog Trey Anastasio Umphrey's McGee Gov't Mule Little Feat The Derek Trucks Band Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk The Everyone Orchestra Trampled By Turtles WookieFoot Moses Mayes
Nestled in the picturesque lakes country of Minnesota’s North Woods, the serene natural environment with reclaimed wetlands and lakeshore surrounding the camping and venue grounds provides the ultimate festival experience.
All within easy walking distance of each other, the festival’s four stages feature over sixty national, independent and emerging acts during the 4 day event. Festival goers retreat within the festival’s wooded hills and shaded campsites as a soundtrack from the jam band world’s crème de la crème plays in the background.
The feedback from the media echoes responses from attendees. The Minneapolis Star Tribune admires that the 10,000 Lakes Festival was “filled with thousands of good vibes…The cutting edge of them all.” Jambase.com calls 10KLF “gold from the North Country”. Colorado’s Marquee Magazine affirms that “10KLF creates the summer’s best musical experience,” and Canada’s Jambands.ca remarks the event is “everything a festival should be.”
The Star Tribune continues “Even the musicians are impressed by the fest site.” Backstage at 10KLF, Jon Bell, singer/guitarist with Widespread Panic performing the event in 2003 and 2005, tells the Tribune "There's room to move and lots of friendliness and not too crazy. It's a very open vibe. You can't create that."
While the main focus of 10KLF is meshing top notch entertainment within a pristine natural setting, the event also takes pride in being a philanthropic member of the community. By providing grants to a variety of groups including environmental awareness, hunger prevention, advancing arts education, voter registration, and other causes, 10KLF offers its patrons the opportunity to learn more about and raise consciousness within a variety of topics affecting its precious surroundings.
By partnering with CLIF Bar and NativeEnergy, the 10,000 Lakes Festival now allows patrons to offset the CO2 emissions of their automobile or airline travel up to the festival by purchasing ‘Cool Tags’ at the online ticket check out. Each Cool Tag invests $2 in NativeEnergy’s WindBuilders program, helping the Rosebud Sioux Tribe build a wind farm on their reservation in South Dakota. Wind farms deliver clean, renewable energy to the grid without releasing CO2 into the air, thereby displacing energy that comes from polluting facilities.
Event tickets, campground reservations and festival details are now available online at www.10KLF.com.
Performers at the previous 10,000 Lakes Festivals include Phil Lesh & Friends, The String Cheese Incident, The Black Crowes, G. Love & Special Sauce, Les Claypool, 311, Galactic, The Roots, John Mayer, Donavon Frankenreiter, O.A.R., Medeski Martin & Wood, Keller Williams, Los Lobos, Yonder Mountain String Band, The Samples, DJ Logic, Particle, Dark Star Orchestra, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Rusted Root, Maroon 5, The Big Wu, The Radiators, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Soulive, North Mississippi Allstars, Tea Leaf Green, Railroad Earth, Shooter Jennings and many more.
awesome!!! i cant wait. although i do wonder why it is that a festival in july announces dates , artists, and schedules months ahead of roo. it walways irks me that they provide such better service to their customers then roo does. i think its mostly because roo knows they sell tix based on that list of the lineup. and if the schedule was out people would see they are going to miss half of what they wanna see and arent as likely to buy a ticket. whatever the reason it seems silly. but i cant wait for 10klf. hope bobby dosent bring the rain with him. im sure he will.

Can anyone tell me if there are any 10klf message boards out there. I'm sure there must be, but a quick internet search hasn't panned out. Lineup looks good and I'm sure it will get even better. I'd love to go, but there are some ?'s I would like to ask b4 buying tickets. Such as which campground is the best and why? Any help would be appreciated.
Nice initial Lineup! The reason why some of these festivals are getting their lineup out to make their money before Bonnaroo releases their lineup. It is hard to compete against a festival who sells 80,000 tickets on average for $200 a pop.

I really want to find a way to go to this! Why are so many really cool festivals located so far away? If not for travel time and travel expenses I might be able to swing more than 2 festivals in a summer.

Northwoods is the best cause its on the same side of the road as the venue area with all the stages... Theres this cool concrete tunnel that goes under the road and leads to the rest of the campgrounds and vendors on the other side... Northwoods and Lake Sallie are the places to be... They should have the map up somewhere when tix go on sale.. The good campgrounds, closer to the stages will sell out quicker...
I dont remember the name but there is one camp kind of behind the main stage to the right around the outside of the venue which is a longer walk and is field camping as opposed to nice shade and wooded camping like most of 10klf... Hope i could help a bit...
ya im with phil too. i saw both last summer and phil kicked bobbys ass. although scofield helped. i am seeing ratdog atleast twice this year at 10klf and gotv. so i want more phil. dont get me wrong i love ratdog but for me its not up to phils standards. ratdog sees to stumble through most stuff. and i like phils setlists better. but hey ill tke either of them any time
i wondered how the roads worked. i saw them on the map and i was wondering if they closed them down or if we had to cross traffic. but tunnels are cool. thats good to know. i hope i have finances together before the good camps sell out
Man this lineup looks sick. I've wanted to go this fest for a few years but it's just too far away for me to be able to convince any of my friends to go. I've wanted to check out Trampled By Turtles for awhile now and it seems like they only show up at 10KL.

Where you from in the northeast man?? I took a greyhound 2 days each way last year to catch this sh*t... Couldnt find a ride anywhere up here but wouldnt miss it for the world....
ive just been checking out mr. blotto and its some good stuff. heres a link to a good show. i like it alot. and for the encore they played the complete terrapin station album. cant wait to check them out.
heres a link to a show for The Burnin Smyrnans..... they sound allright too. i love finding new bands to check out when the festival lineups start coming. www.archive.org/details/burns2006-06-24.flac16
turns out they are from Chicago, so that's not too terribly bad for me if I ever feel like making a trek. The show in Michigan City, IN is just over four hours away too....I really would like to see these guys
i know man. these guys are excellent. im on my second listen and im only liking it more. damn i am excited as hell for winter to go away and get the festie season rolling. i was eyeing that michigan city show also. its about 5 hours for me. im gonna have to try and talk some firends into going.

I doubt I'll get up to Michigan City to see them, but it's making me want to try again and rally my festival buddies to do 10klf instead of All Good after we're done with Roo. We can only feasibly do two festies a year and we pretty decided due to proximity that All Good would be a better choice, but the lineup at 10klf is calling my name.
watchin not-sees is awesome. such a great message. wow. these guys have immediately become one of my favorites. im burning this show for everyone i know.
I've already planned on doing the same. Thanks for linking this show! That arrangement of Bird Song was pretty great, haven't quite gotten to watchin not-sees yet, because I played the Terrapin encore first so I am just on the jam after kiss me in the moring at the moment.
this show is from a festival they put on themselves. blottopia. theyve had it for seven years. i might have to check it out this year. sounds super small but nothing wrong with that.
Don't know if you noticed, but there is a show from 04 where they play all of Who's Next by the Who on there as well. I'll have to listen to that one tomorrow.
