Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
You know you are an adult (and posting in “the YAY! Thread”) when you spend Friday and Saturday driving 10 hours and staying in a shitty hotel for a night just to score a massive haul of MCM furniture for Casa del ZIG.
I seriously haven’t had this type of buzz since I bought my house in a fleece 7 years ago.

The furniture saga continues.
An estate came up on Facebook yesterday with more of the vintage MCM furniture in the same brand and style that I purchased last week in Iowa. This time the haul was local in the twin cities.
Needless to say, I spent 7 years searching for the “right” vintage furniture; but in the span of 8 days, I ended up gobbling up 2 hutches, 2 dining tables each with 2 leaves, 11 matching armless dining chairs + 1 matching captains chair, 2 more near matching captains chairs, a table protector pad, and all the accompanying original sliding glass pieces and shelves.

So anyone with student loan debt probably knows something about the ongoing saga in which the Biden administration has been trying to wipeout a sizable amount of debt for most borrowers. Their efforts to provide relief and stimulate the economy got hung up in the courts of course. However, there are other programs that successfully accomplish something similar by other means, most notably for people working in public service.
A couple months ago, I also found out that having undergraduate loans in repayment for 20 years and on an income-driven repayment plan is also supposed to qualify you (or 25 years for grad loans). This has been a struggle due to incomplete and poorly reported data, but they've stepped up their efforts to forgive more qualifying loans, and I just received notice that I qualify! After 20 years since I initially began repayment, I still had a balance of over 20k which, as of today, is finally gone.
Man, this is a weight off my shoulders, as it had been a long, hard slog. Some income-related forebearances along the way didn't count against me, nor did the fact that fact that I'm not on an income-driven plan anymore. Now I hope that any of you who may be getting closer to retirement age than college age can benefit from this. I would have loved to have paid this off a long time ago but it just wasn't in the cards, as just eating and keeping the lights on was difficult at times. Now I'm happy to say that I won't be paying for my own education into my 50's and 60's, which was beginning to look realistic, and can add a little more to my meager retirement savings. Yay!

Don’t forget to vote against your interests in the fall. JK, congrats. We really need to see more of these types of stories promoting various Biden policies.

My partner and I just closed on our dream home! Not much for most, but getting my dream house, dream wedding, and dream career by 32 feels like quite the blessing. At certain points, I never thought these things would be possible. I am very very grateful today.

I survived my first tornado yesterday, apparently. Lots of trees down around the area but little significant damage because we don't get those massive Wizard Of Oz twisters in Ohio. No idea when the power will be back on, since they've said a few hundred thousand customers were experiencing outages, but it could be several days. I'm just happy no one was hurt. I don't have much to clean up, and I only had to drive 25 minutes to find a generator I liked that was in stock, so the fridge and internet are working. Yay.
Today Mrs. GL walks into her new role as COO. She’s been sitting on the news for days as they’re telling staff but has been acting director for a few months now.
This woman absolutely busts her ass and I’m so proud of who she’s become in both work and at home. Raising a glass to you Mrs. GL. Don’t ever stop kicking ass and taking names.
Annnnnnd I just made my first of many tattoo appointments to start work on my other arm sleeve.
theAmberRhino, I’ll be in Harrisonburg a lot after November. We will get burritos because I won’t be allowed to drink. 💃🕺💃🕺
I have an appointment for my first tattoo in October. I’m excited, but also nervous. I have passed out from needles before, but not in more than twenty years, and I don’t plan on watching her work, so I’m hoping I’ll be okay.

Where are you getting your tattoo? That determines the pain a lot. Also the needle doesn't look like a doctor's needle, which helps. I have close to three dozen, all varying pains. Also if you're someone who gets a period, your cycle can also contribute to the level of pain you'll experience (yaaaaay). Ask your artist for breaks when you need them, and numbing gel too! And water!

You’ll be awesome, I promise! It’s way different, imo. I’m not gonna lie to you and say you won’t feel a thing but it’s not horrible either. Eat well before you go in. Don’t take Tylenol as it will thin your blood before getting tattooed. It really comes down to where you’re getting it and how heavy handed your artist is. If it’s closer to bone it’s gonna suck for a bit but you’ll be happy you did. The tops of my feet, my elbow and ditch, and that divot there in your neck sucks the worst. Past that, you got this!

It’s going on my thigh, which I’ve heard can be not great, but it’s going more towards the outer part of my thigh, rather than the inner part, where apparently the skin is thinner. If I’m looking at the calendar right, should be right in the middle between periods.

Don’t forget to tip, either! 😂
Josh says that for his, it was kind of uncomfortable at first, and then it settled into kind of pleasant. He has one on his hand, just below his thumb, which he said was the worst one, worse than his neck, but the neck one is fully on the side of his neck. Mine will be on my thigh, more towards the outside than inside.
Definitely planning to bring a cash tip and might also make some cookies!

For me, it’s the humming of the gun. Once I started paying attention to that, I was fine.
My only leg work is knees down but I’d imagine your thigh wouldn’t be horrible. Plenty of meat that’ll ease it a bit.

My outer thigh tattoo didn't hurt that bad at all. My most painful is my side piece which goes from boob to mid-hip. The rib and inner hip portion were the fucking worst. Plus, my artist was extremely heavy handed and leaned his 6'5" 250+ body on me while he worked. It's one of the reasons I never got it finished. I've talked about finishing with my current artist.

That’s good to hear. I have pretty thick thighs, so I was thinking that would help. I also wanted it somewhere that I could hide it easily but that I could also see it easily if I wanted to.

Old post was at the top of the page when I entered the thread and I thought it said "MCU furniture." I was trying not to judge but I was thinking that's pretty fucking dorky man.
You know I've got the spots! Whatcha getting for the sleeve? I've got my first appt for this half sleeve in a couple weeks!
It’s gonna be food/kitchen themed. Lots of vegetables and meat, cutlery and utensils. I’m really looking forward to it.
What are you getting and who’s doing it?
A man after my own heart! That's gonna be fuckin sweet, who/where ya headed for that? My friend Jordan runs State of the Art in the ol' hometown, she's gonna tackle it for me! Gonna be another art nouveau style piece, this one will be a coyote head in profile with prickly pear cacti and blossoms, and clematis flowers and vines along with whatever else she feels like throwing in.

That’s awesome! Art nouveau is one of my favorites to look at. The line work alone is so intricate. I can’t wait to see the finished product.
I’m headed to Alley Cats (Kats Katz I truly don’t know) and getting tattooed by Andy. He fucking rules. We just sit around and talk about Jazz for hours 😂

Thick thighs save lives.
I'm not sure if I posted this in here, but this is my thigh tattoo.
Just jumpin’ in to agree with Vieux that my rib piece is the one that really hurt! Didn’t help that I was much more skinny when I got it over 10 years ago! One of my upper arm pieces did feel kinda rough, but there is a fair amount of line detail that had to be done before the artist colored it in.
And just cause I haven’t seen anyone say it yet, but don’t get super drunk the night before either!

Excuse the hot and fresh tat and screenshot, she didn't send me her pics yet.

After 12 applications over the past ~3 years, I landed a volunteer DJ Assistant gig at KEXP!! My training is tonight and my first shift is tomorrow night! I'm on the Slack (which I've never used) and even in the past week several people have released shifts to assist with other DJs, even *drumroll* someone releasing a shift with Cheryl Waters! A lot of emotional effort has gone into this idea the past several years, and to get the opportunity to get my foot in the door honestly feels fucking surreal.
