So I finally had an appointment with my new diabetes doctor yesterday, and oh boy am I kinda excited! So I haven’t had health insurance fer almost 15 years, but now that I do have some I may get to try some new diabetic toys! My wife and I very much want to get me on an insulin pump and constant blood sugar monitor, and I’m finally takin’ the first steps! The doc gave me prescriptions fer both that hopefully my insurance will cover.
In the meantime, she hooked me up with a temporary blood sugar monitor that constantly monitors my sugar level! This shit is like six-fi to me! I can see my sugar level on an app on my phone, and don’t have to prick my fingers several times a day! And the monitor will send my phone alerts if my blood sugar is too low or too high!
This shit is the bee’s knees in the cat’s pajamas!
Congrats! I have a friend who has been diabetic her entire adult life and the app is a game changer!

Those are the coolest! I loved having patients with those! Just put their phone to the back of their arm and voila, a lovely number that was always in range. No prick needed. So psyched for you!

You don’t even have to swipe your phone across the sensor! As long as Bluetooth is turned on, your phone is within some 6-10ft, and the app is open the monitor just constantly sends blood sugar updates. It is SO COOL!
And if my insurance covers everythin’ the insulin pump I want begins to learn from your diet and interacts with the monitor to increase or decrease the dose!

Moved into a new apartment I've been eyeing for years. 15 minute bike from all the venues and right off the river. Been fantastic to watch the colors change and see the first snowfall
It’s officially official, I’m gonna be a dad! The process hasn’t been easy, but we are currently due fer a baby boy on 7.July! My wife and I are super excited, but I have a feelin’ I’m just gonna ground him at some random point cause we’re out fer ‘Roo this year!

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

For valentine's day I bought myself a bunchhhh of pilates classes since they had a special sale today. Self care is love <3
Man, just making sure any other gift you get today is second place. 😄
LOL we don't exchange gifts for valentines day so it's fine! We just go do something fun on some other night (because going out on the 14th is a messssss)
I know this probably isn't the place because several of you hate me but
I think I'm beginning to heal, emotionally? Like, I'm starting to *get it.*
I'm starting to see the person other people see in me. The leader, the good person who fucks up sometimes instead of the terrible person who does good things occasionally.
There was some severe weather in metro Atlanta on Friday and the person normally considered the "leader" in my department was out of town.
So I just...filled in? Like you'd expect that the higher-ups would go "hey digital, do xyz." But no! It was *"hey Ellie, do you know how to do this?"* It became me coordinating who was doing what. Me more or less directing the department.
Instead of that instinct to do everything to prove myself, I became willing to hand things off to people.
It was sorta random but it just *clicked.* I was able to take a step back and go OH. THAT'S WHY.
I can't heal completely on my own, but things just randomly clicking is a start. Now I know I don't need other people to completely build...whoever Ellie Parker ends up being. It's still in my hands at the end of the day.

I've got this.
I'm glad things are clicking, nothing but support from over here <3
