I'm so upset over the tragedy at SXSW. I'm upset with the individual.... with the lawyer who will defend his actions ..... I'm just really upset.
You're upset over a lawyer doing his/her job? I'm not defending the dude, but the beauty of America (as opposed to so many other countries) is that we are guaranteed the right to a trial, and with that guarantee comes the right to be defended by someone who is knowledgeable in regard to the law. The lawyer is simply doing their job.

Their "job" in this case is to find human error among Firefighter or Police procedure in the midst of chaos, confusion, and death. You're stating it's ok if he goes free because there were errors made because the lawyer was doing his/her job?
I really can't even put it into words. You may be correct. It's just really upsetting on many levels. It's really just at this level of death and injury on top of the theft and disregard for human life the thought of this person being "free" troubles me.

One way to look at it is:
The defense attorney is fulfilling a role - to make sure the defendant had every opportunity to be represented to the fullest, so that when a guilty verdict comes down we can all sleep easy knowing every excuse has been exhausted and the verdict is "just".
Considering your obvious views on the matter, I would think you would be a supporter of this process.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

For katbur2, Whoreshack, and anyone else out there dealing with this horrible disease, we've got your back. I liked this saying because it uses the word we. We is important here, because we are here for you. We'll do anything for you. We'll be there anytime you need us. Anyway we can. So much love & positive thoughts are focused on y'all right now, and for all the days ahead. Know that. Believe that.
I want to thank all of you for the love and good wishes. It's too early for me to know what kind of help I'm going to need. More scans on the 21st and then an appointment with my oncologist. Right now I am cautiously optimistic but still scared shitless of course. Trying to consider if I need to see a malpractice lawyer or not and how to even go about doing that (because I've been seeing an orthopedist for nearly a year about this, see another one who takes one x ray and finds the problem)

Just got done with the final stages of a root canal a couple weeks ago. When I was in getting my crown put in I asked about some sensitivity on the right side of my mouth. X-rays done and boom....Impacted Wisdom Tooth. would get worse over time and mess up my other teeth. Need to go to an oral surgeon to get this dealt with.
So I'm thinking "great....another thing that's going to run me a pretty chunk of change" considering I'd have to get this one pulled (and others if they show up as impacted on a better x-ray). Still paying off the root canal on my credit card because my work health insurance doesn't include dental so I'm on a discounted fee plan called EDPdental. It helps with the costs but I'm still paying a bunch. Anyway....I have yet to set up the oral surgeon appointment and last night I notice something on one of my back teeth and think it's some food I was just eating. I poke at it with a tooth pick to clean it up and boom....a small chunk of my tooth falls out revealing a nice sized hole which I am hoping is just a cavity and not something worse.
I'll be able to manage but now this is a few more things to add to my "where all my money goes" list on top of festivals and weddings this summer.
Also, the dentist is closed today. Have to make an appointment when they are back in office tomorrow. Grrrrrr. Not happy.

Love each other and take care of yourselves!
So sorry to hear this And of course add me to the list of people that are here for you and will help in whatever way I can. If you just need someone to rant to, or anything else, you have me on FB. Big hugs girly!!
Thanks for all the love everybody. We'll have more details this week and next. Unless it conflicts with treatment I'm still planning to come to the farm.
