My cat has cancer in his spinal chord and he's going to die soon. I don't know why, but I might be more upset about this than any sickness that's happened to a human I know.

I am so sorry....he is way more than just a cat. I understand.
ALL FUCKING WOMEN ARE FUCKING GODDAMN EVIL. It's like I'm polite and funny and they associate that with weakness and it makes me disposable? Seriously fuck them. I'd rather be a single depraved loser than deal with any more fucking head games.
I know where you are coming from based on personal experience, but you are wrong. Sure, most of the ladies I met in my twenties qualified, but at that age most are just as messed up on the priority thing as us.
Keep being yourself, it pays off. Love delayed is not love denied.

I'm so sorry My kitties have always been like my best friends so I understand.
I had to take my snake to her breeder's house today. I'm glad someone I can trust offered to care for her while I'm away, but parting with her is really difficult (probably the only part of leaving that I'm bummed about aside from family of course). And she's just a snake!

Tonight is my school's Chef for Success event. They invite 6 local chef's to come in and cook delicious things. This year's theme is Mardi Gras. There's lots of creole deliciousness on the menu. My quantitative foods class gets to help with plating and serving. I was really looking forward to working with these chef's and tasting their food, but I have a feeling that my teacher is going to make me sit on the sidelines because of how sick I am.

Ah James, I'm really sorry to read this. I totally get how a pet is like a family member and how their passing can be as hard on people as when a person dies. I hope he isn't suffering and that you're doing as best as possible under the circumstances.

What kind of snake? I had a 9ft albino Burmese growing up. At one point we had 30 snakes.
krunchykat, I'm sorry for what you're going through and I wish that I could help.
Yeah, my late husband's brother "volunteered" to do some work around my house. He came and got my broken TV to get it repaired because it was sitting on my garage until I could decide where to take it. Lo and behold he got the TV fixed for $100, then called saying that he would like to keep it because he never asked me for any money for all the work he was going to do for me. Honestly, I thought that he was offering to help because he knew I was struggling. He ended up dropping off a crappy TV by my house and setting it up. Now he claims that I said I wanted a smaller TV. (I never did). That TV was originally worth 800 dollars. When I pointed that out, he said that he had planned on doing about 800 dollars worth of work.
Add to that the fact that said brother in law went through rehab a few months ago for alcoholism. The first day he was at my house he drank every bit of my beer (about 6). The second time he brought his own. I don't want him over here drinking and going through my things to see what he can get out of the deal (my garage and tools are all moved around so I know that's what he's been doing)
We have a family gathering today for an elderly aunt's birthday. I am going to give him a check for #300 today and tell him that I want my TV back and thanks but no thanks for any more work. I would like to say "fuck you" but I'm going to take the high road. The sad thing about it is that he and his wife (who is party to this as well) are my oldest daughters' godparents.
I can't wait to move away from this family. I gave so many years of my life to them while putting my family on the back burner because my husband didn't want to travel to Macon. I took care of his parents and sisters when they were sick and dying. The whole lot of them now have pretty much deserted me except for the occasional family function, and that's probably just for show. I'm going to need an ativan to get through today, because if I drink enough to deal with it I will feel like poop tomorrow.
GRRRRR I will survive. I always do.
WTF....that is seriously messed up!!! I'll get your tv fixed for you, oh by the way, I'm going to keep it. I hope you got it back, Kim! Tell him his "help" is not wanted. Sheesh.

I just spent more than an hour bitching out Chase on the phone. I went through four people until my battery was going to die and had to end it. For now. I have all the time in the world, Chase.
so it's mostly my own fault for procrastinating (which is no surprise for anyone who knows me), but I'm about to start over my school requirements. Clemson requires all students to complete an "e-portfolio" prior to graduation, which includes eight competencies ranging from arts + humanities to "science and technology in society." for each competency, you have to submit an artifact (i.e., research paper) and also a justification of why the artifact meets the requirements of the competency. each artifact is graded, with a total of 0-4 points awarded per artifact, and a total of 15 points is required for graduation.
while I'm sure the e-portfolio is useful for gauging how well Clemson is teaching all of these subjects, IMO it is ridiculous that the requirement is exactly the same for transfer students as it is for traditional students. I am in an RN-BSN program, so I will have taken a total of 10 classes by the time I graduate, and out of those I am supposed to have created all of my needed artifacts (spoiler: with classes like "Issues in Professionalism in Nursing" and "Family Health", I haven't). I don't have any of my math assignments or lab reports from classes I took 9-10 years ago, so I have to create new assignments from scratch, just to meet this requirement and get my diploma. isn't managing to maintain a 4.0 GPA while working and taking care of two kids enough to qualify for my diploma?? /end rant

Edit: ftr, I feel your pain. I had to apply for graduation three times before my application got approved. It was weird because, both times she denied it, it was for completely different reasons. It only got approved the third time because I went down to her office and spoke with her supervisor.

I'm assuming you talked to advisors and such? I know some of the programs at Arizona that have similar requirements will allow use of real life work and experiences to apply for stuff like that.

yes... unfortunately, the most they are willing to concede is to provide transfer students with guidelines to create alternate artifacts. so, since I don't have a math artifact, I can perform calculations regarding various scenarios for loan repayment, post all of my results in excel without using any built-in excel formulas (and explain every step IN WORDS), and submit that.
