While I was at work tonight, someone stole my $300 roof basket from my car while it was sitting in the parking lot. This is only 3 weeks after my house was robbed. Can I get some good news, please?
pic to show what they took, so you guys can understand that it's not exactly an easy thing to just take.
Guys!! You're not gonna believe this.
Today while driving a block from my house I saw my roof basket on a neighbors car. Due to some marks I made installing it I knew it was mine. The neighbor said he bought it off a random guy, and since there wasn't really anyway to prove it was mine I told the neighbor that if he wanted to give it back I'd give him some money but I didn't get my hopes up.
15 minutes ago the guy just returned it, and asked for no money in return. Holy shit.

There ARE still honest people out there, I'm still in shock!
That or the dude stole it and got caught.
I have a good sixth sense about these kinda things, and you could tell he was more pissed he bought a stolen item than anything else. It also didn't show up on his car until today, so I believe his story about buying it recently.

There really are. I called a guy an asshole today (long story short: my sarcasm-meter was fully shot on 2 hours of sleep and a diverted flight) and he bought me and Cody treats at Starbucks. I almost cried.
100% pure awesome. Thank you, and was that so hard, people? Grrrrrrr.... I'd like to send the first one, and maybe the second, to my employer's corporate office, just to see what might happen.

I'm glad you got your basket back - stories like this are good reminders that there are good people in the world and that good things do happen, even if the human condition is defined by various degrees of suffering.
Sorry you had a break-in though. I had one just about three years ago - I was home and the 37 year-old homeless burglar got caught. Unfortunately we didn't realize that she bashed in the cellar door before going around to the front porch (after she found that the cellar had no access to the rest of the house) where I spotted her, so the first cop on the scene didn't document most of the damage (and the one who was supposed to come out 2 days later didn't show). The worst part is that the prosecutor refused to return my calls, never spoke to me, and ended up letting her off with only drug treatment. She even gave the court an address that doesn't exist but they went easy on her. Of course she has been arrested at least three times since then, so as pissed as I still am at the prosecutor for misjudging her I'm just glad my loss was minimal (not counting all the lost sleep, I still wake up thinking I heard something), and I sort of feel for people who are that desperate. I hate that they take advantage of others, but I can only suppose that they must be in really dark times, because most people never resort to such BS.
Break-ins are the worst. Hooray for the neighbors who pay attention and call the cops, and the folks who give stuff back and eat what they spent because it is the moral thing to do.
I didn't get selected in the White House Easter Egg Roll. Totally disappointed, because I was using it as a way to keep my DC on track. Now everyone is advising me that it's too soon after surgery to go. Booo.
Found out recently that once again someone went against my wishes & did something I asked them not to. It bothers me greatly. Really shows you who you can and can't trust. Really shows you who you want and don't want in your life.

I don't know what happened, but I'm really sorry to hear that.

Today is the weirdest shitty day ever. I just made an appointment to put my poor sweet old man cat down this afternoon, and now there's an armed suspect on the run near our office so we're on lockdown (complete with helicopters circling).

Sorry about your old man cat, but yes. There was even a bale of hay on the road on my way in. Bigwig corp people in, boss out, weirdness going on with work.

I'm so, so sorry about your cat. That's such a difficult decision to have to make.
And holy shit about the armed suspect! Hopefully they catch the person soon and without any problems. That's so scary!

Thanks lady, it is a super hard call but I don't want him to suffer, and he's only gotten worse in the last few days. I keep crying on and off thinking about it, but I hope we'll all feel better once he's at peace.
On a good note, they caught the suspect, so I won't need to run to my car and peel out like a spaz when I leave here shortly.
I don't normally make posts like this I have been in such a funk lately. I'm down most of the time and my current job is definitely not helping. I really don't know what else to say but if you're in the positive thoughts sending mood; I could definitely use some right now.

I had to come back up to NC for a few days and picked a what I thought was the hotel my relatives used to pick when they came up for holidays. It is not that hotel. It is super cheap but super gross. There is what seems to be a blood stain on the carpet and brown mystery stains on many other surfaces. I did not sleep last night cause all I could think about was the horrible skin diseases I probably have now from contacting the surfaces in this room. I think tonight I will have to find a new hotel and just eat the non refundable charge I already paid this dump.
Sometimes it's better off taking the loss and doing better.
Speaking of which, I had a ticket to Ty Segall's show last night, and yet I was at home in bed instead. I was exhausted, and it would of been brutal trying to go from Boston to home, then to work, in less than six hours.

For the past 24 hours, I cannot seem to stop throwing up. A few weeks back, my team was dismissed and I was left without a job in a most surprising and depressing way. My sons insurance was cut with 4 days left on the calendar, he's an infant. I had the first round of interviews for a good position on Monday, and was told yesterday that they'd like to see me this morning again for round two. I can't eat this morning, mortified that it will come up mid interview. The position is time sensitive, so missing the interview isn't an option. No fever, seems like it's food poisoning. I'm headed into the more cerebral end of a two part interview with no sleep, no food in my stomach, and a twist in my gut that I haven't felt since I had water poisoning in China.
Also probably can't go to roo this year, but that doesn't even seem to register on the radar at this point.

Damn dude.
You're gonna walk out of that interview like this:

Do all you can to stabilize your guts (Pepto, MOM). Get Pedialite or Gatorade and attempt to stay hydrated. If you can forge ahead without puking on the interviewer the next challenge will be to not succumb to dehydration. At best it clouds your head more than it will be already and at worst they are peeling you off the floor after you fall out. So keep drinking fluids!
Sometimes we have to raise up and do things we really should not be able to....today is that for you. I belive in ya bud! Go in and kick ass and then get home and pass out for 48 hours if you can.

Be honest with your interviewers. Tell them that you are under the weather and apologize in advance if you need to excuse yourself for a few minutes. Bring mouthwash. Trust me, don't let them wonder why you seem "off" in your interview.
Also, don't let them reschedule if they offer. Tell them you're really excited about the opportunity and wouldn't think about rescheduling.
This could actually end up working for you as long as you downplay it and come across as focused and not overly-dramatic.
I think someone is stealing my mail. I live in a community of townhouses - sets of 8-10 in each division. All of our mailboxes are together at the end of the cul-de-sac. They are locked boxes that the mailman drops the mail off through the back so I cant figure how someone would take it (unless its the mailman or a key was duplicated or the back just isnt locked. I haven't fully investigated yet). I haven't had anything in my mailbox for 4 days (not even junk mail). My car payment is due in less than a week and I haven't received the bill yet which leads me to rule out pure coincidence and Im waiting on a new debit card which also is bothersome
Now Im missing a set of tickets for a boxing event this weekend, my Dead and Co tickets and Freddie Gibbs tickets. Talked to eTix they said they were shipped on 2/8 and to call back within 48 hours of the event and they would see what they could do. I haven't even decided what the hell Im going to do with Ticketmaster yet. I cant imagine they are that easy to deal with when it comes to lost or stolen tickets. Ive already received the "Your tickets were printed" email at least 3 weeks ago so I know Im not overreacting and Ive already torn the house apart in case Im mentally losing it and misplaced them but losing 3 sets of tickets from 3 different places purchased at 3 different times is highly unlikely. So lame.
The expensive mattress I bought less than 4 years ago is falling apart, spring coming out, side collapsing.
They don't make things like they used to.
Our mattress is like 14 years old, and I really want a new one, but I'm afraid of paying so much for something and then having something like this be the result.
