I say this as a former Best Buy employee. 2 of the most horrible years of my life.
So I have a question then, since you're a former Best Buy employee and all. I know they work off commission, when I return this laptop will that employee lose his commission on the sale? That's really the only part of this that's making me feel bad.

Yes. At least that is how it used to be. BUT I'm fairly sure they don't work on commission any longer.
I worked in the cell phone department, and we never worked on commission, but the other departments did. I'm pretty sure they phased that out toward the end of my time there (late 2013).
Actually.. if I'm not mistaken then the Apple section isn't even part of BBY, so they could be totally different. (the store you got it from had it's own little Apple kiosk thing with a dude in Apple clothes, yea?)

They have an Apple "section" but the salesman had on a Best Buy shirt. He was weird too. I think he was new. I asked for a 15" (because why not?) and he gave me a 13" inch instead. Didn't know the apple care policy very well and kept going up to someone (who looked like a supervisor) to ask questions about things I already knew the answer to. But yea, pretty sure he was a Best Buy employee.

Ah, okay then yea. What I said stands.
Also that reason is exactly why people hate BBY and why it's going out of business by becoming a showroom for Amazon shoppers. Stupid kids who have no idea what they're doing.
Don't feel bad. If it was a big box store it doesn't matter. If it were a small specialty store like mine then you'd be an asshole, but the big stores could care less.
So a bud I grew up with was gunned down Saturday night...wrong place wrong time situation. He was just 40, has a couple kids, and a good all around cat.
The family is all just getting in town and I am getting ready to meet up with some of them I have not seen in 20 years.
that is awful, I'm sorry to hear this!
I just got word that my uncle died of cancer today. haven't seen him in years but kept in touch on FB. he's the traveling hippy that always got me.
so bummed man
So sorry lady, thinking about you and yours.
I am glad to hear you were able to keep in touch. Sometimes the Facebook can be a real positive for folks.
I hope you have the best week you can, heavy heart and all.

Just learned that a co-worker lost her son this weekend, he was on his way to move back into town after finishing up at school. I can't even wrap my brain around how heartbreaking that is.

That's terrible. My grandmother had the misfortune of losing three of her five children before she passed. It seemed like she was never able to fully get past it. Hoping your co-worker is able to find peace with it.
Back is pretty bad off after decorating the house & stupidly moving a couch. Made a call today that I never imagined having to make. And, I've been so busy I haven't been on here much. GRRRRRRR to all that.
I'm sorry to hear about your uncle, luva. TBH I stay out of this thread more often then not nowadays because it makes me sad, but you all have my unconditional support and well-wishes. <3

Parking at Radford University is the complete worse. Yes, I know...every college has parking problems. Not to this extreme.
The rule is you have to have your appropriate pass and be parked in your appropriate lot Monday - Friday from 7 am - 5:30 pm. If it's not those hours, all bets are off. For the past year I have worked in the campus call center, raising money with other students for the university. Our typical hours are 5:45 pm - 9 pm, in which case we are allowed to park wherever. In the whole year that I have worked their, I have parked in the same lot every night. Two months ago I got a parking ticket for being in that lot, which was a first...and other workers who was in that lot received a ticket as well. We all appealed the ticket, and didn't hear back from our parking services until today...in which we all got denied. With no explanation.
I took an apartment in June that had less space than my previous place and higher rent just so I could walk to class and back, and be with-in walking distance to all of our college bars. Don't regret it a bit.
Small GRR in the big picture, but spent my afternoon drivin' 'round Durham, NC tryin' to find a specialty beer shop. Terrapin released a super limited version of their Wake-N-Bake as a French Toast variant that hit this store today and after callin' twice (after work at 2:30pm and en route 3:30ish) I was told they still had bottles. After GPS misdirection after two phone calls to their store I finally arrive around 4pm and ask about said beer only to be told they had sold out by 12:30 by the salesperson.
I just bought a new $1300 MacBook Pro that I will be returning on Friday. Do feel bad? Yes. Could I have borrowed a laptop from someone? Yes. But not for four straight days and I desperately need extended access to a computer right now and can't risk whomever I borrow from to ask for it back. I kinda feel terrible about it though...
Sooooo, some dumbass coworker of mine mentioned this at work tonight in front of a supervisor who is now claiming this is not jus unethical, but illegal. He's not law enforcement, but his supervisor is (he's a leuitenent) and so now that "it's been brought to his attention" he has to "discuss the legality of the situation with Lt in the morning." Because of where I work I could get in a lot of trouble over this. Which is bullshit. The comment I made didn't even fully admit to my initial intentions. I just said, "yea, I'm probably going to return it Friday because I shouldn't have bought it. But oh well, at least I got my finals done out of it." Which really isn't saying "I bought it to return it." But whatever. I may be stuck with it now. And sadly, I don't even like it as much as my original laptop. It has less inputs and doesn't even have a disc drive.
Ughhhhhh. Is this week over? Seriously. This week just needs to end already.

That's ridiculous. And how can they enforce you to keep it? If you are unsatisfied with the laptop, stick to that (not the rest) and return it.

That's some bullshit. Stick to your guns, you're not happy with it (which is true) and are going to return it. They can't force you to keep it, even if they think they are the almighty hand of God sent to enforce his will.
Your laptop needed repairs. You weren't sure if it was worth it to fix it, or get a new one. You decided to buy a new one. You didn't like the new one, it is missing key features you enjoyed on your old one. You want to return it now that you've had a few days with it.
Fuck 'em. Don't let them pull a power trip on you.

That's bullshit. It is not illegal to bring something back to a place that has a return policy if you are not satisfied with it.

That really is some bullshiz. Whoever that coworker is deserve an ass-whooping.
Join the club. I will let you know what my total time up is when I go to sleep, but I'm going on hour 35 now....
I've heard Melatonin can work wonders in helping beat insomnia.
Melatonin is good, but I always need lots of it. But I'm mostly still up because I jacked up my sleeping schedule and then I couldn't sleep when I had the chance (yesterday morning/early afternoon)..
So here's been my week thus far:
Sunday I took an adderall RIGHT BEFORE work (11pm-ish), did a bunch of homework, got home at normal time Monday morning (7am) wasn't tired when I got home, because adderall, so I stayed up finishing homework then took a final. Finally fell asleep around 2pm. Slept till 9:30pm when it was time to get up for work again. Went to work Monday night, got home Tuesday morning and couldn't sleep because I had just woken up at 9:30pm. Tossed and turned until about 12:30 when I decided to give up and get food and run errands instead. Had a final at 4:40 an hour drive away. Got home around 8pm. Decided not to try sleep because I knew I wouldn't wake up. So I fucked around on my phone till it was time to leave for work at 10pm again and took another adderall to get me through the night. It worked wonders. I got off at 7am, went home real quick to change and let the dog out, and left for my drs appt at 9:15am. And here I sit waiting for said appt. I should be home around 11am and I'm going to sleep alllllll day.
Seriously though. I was like, wtf?! How can you tell me I HAVE to keep this laptop. Fuck you guys. I'll prob get written up. At least for violation of an ethics code or some other made up bullshit. I can't wait to quit my job.

That's even bigger BS if you get written up for that. You did it on your personal time. It is your personal computer. Has nothing to do with work. I could see if you did it at work, for work them having a say. Complete bull.
