Album sales, homeboy.
lol, touche...
Hmm, in thinking about it, though, that one's even not definite anymore. We have so much music that friends burned for us, or vice-versa, it's hard to tell anymore. Like, I put five or six Ryan Adams albums on my friend's i-pod this summer, and she's listened to them, but she never bought them, and there'd be no record of it.
If only everything could be simplified into little concrete categories...then life would be so easy! (And boring!)

Oh, and since this is a Tiesto thread...here's my sad Tiesto story...
I have a friend who likes Tiesto, and I used to make fun of him for it. It became an in-joke for a long time. He wasn't that stoked yet on this year's lineup, but he was still gonna go...
Then I found out two days ago that him and his girlfriend broke up, and they won't be going anymore...he's bummed...and now, they just added Tiesto, which he would have been stoked about.

why dump 'roo if you split with the girl?
Well, I asked what they were doing with the tickets, and he said "she owns them," since they were bought on her credit card...I'm not sure what she plans to do with them.
One reason he's probably not going is that he's mostly deaf...he can hear with his hearing aids in, but not clearly enough to be able to easily understand speech. She's a professional interpreter (that's how they met), so it was really helpful for him to have her around. I can understand why he wouldn't want to bother with Bonnaroo without an interpreter, it can be very difficult.
We have Bonnaroo, which will provide a shitload of people out in the middle of nowhere. Not to mention all the no no words that comes with the event. Now we have DJ, Tiësto doing a latenight set.You know this is going to be a huge full blown clothing optional Rave!!
So bring out your glow sticks, your body paints, your laser pointers,(which by the way you can get green laser pointers on eBay for 20 bucks including shipping),and of course your STATE of mind!! It's getting much better, and it hasn't even started yet. Way to go Bonnaroo,Tiësto ROCKS!!!

anyone think his time slot will be 12am-6am? his sets are long enough, that you should be able to check out at least 2 other bands during the latenight, i've never heard of this guy but just reading his bio i'm down

I saw some of Tiesto's set back at Voodoo last year... he has a row of screens along the stage, underneath his turntables, as well as the prerequisite blinding DJ lights behind and above him as he performs. The screens play videos of bodies in motion: swimming, dancing, dangling from a trapeze, etc. The stage show alone was beautiful.... once you add in the perfectly timed music.... my head asploded....
I can absolutely see this as a late night/early morning set. Tiesto is one of the acts I was hoping to see added. I envy you all .
I saw Tiesto last year at Coachella. It was good...not great. Benny Bennassi, Paul Van Dyk and especially Evil Nine blew him away last year in the Sahara Tent. I am partial to house instead of trance, but who knows.
But I'm glad to see a bunch of people stoked for Tiesto. I like me some happy people.

I'm a first time poster on inforoo but I have been following the site this year alot (through the zeppelin rumors and everything). this will be my third bonnaroo and after this addition I just had to post how happy I was! i can't wait to see this show and i hope he plays some of his tracks from parade of the athletes!
mothersky, quit trolling. An anecdote is not the same as an opinion. The entire point is that one person's small sample size and very limited experiences are in no way even close to representative of the whole. If you want a broad example, look at Manu Chao's popularity in the US as opposed to the rest of the world.
If you want to look deeper (although not terribly representative), check out LastFM charts, Billboard, radio play, etc. There are plenty of reputable sources, and although they may not be the best, they are certainly better than "my friends have never heard of so-and-so".
