Well, I'd say that Billboard is reputable... eh? And the Tennessee/GA radio stations are also somewhat reputable simply because of the sources they have access to? If true, Tallica is surely under responsibility to help keep the hype down....
It has far surpassed the "silly rumor" stage is all I'm saying.... This had graduated to a "strong possibility".....
Ok, that's it... I am staying away
The Zeppelin rumors are persistent and numerous, but there was only one Metallica rumor, and it was immediately after Billboard picked up said rumor that the Metallica management explicitly said the band was NOT playing at Bonnaroo 2008. So, there's no reasonable argument to be made for Metallica. Yes, Billboard reported on it, but major publications do get things wrong from time to time, and besides while they believed it to be true they still reported that the info came from a supposed "insider" and not from a known, trusted source.
What are you talking about? Metallica denied it. And which "reputable sources" are you refering to?

Billboard did not exclusively report anything, they just reported information from other sources. As for the local radio stations, they are still saying that Zep is 100% playing even the after it was reported "innacurate" for the second time. Probably to cause more hype and gain more publicity.
...While I don't think its cool that so many have smitten you for saying this... why come into a Zep rumor thread, which is obviously full of Zep fans to say it?
I have been thinking about the word inaccurate, maybe Zep is not going to PLAY there but rather open a garlic grill cheese stand, come think about how many grill chees's the would sell!. What do you think they are going to call the name of the stand? I know id buy a few I bet they will be tasty!

I think we all know exactly what's going on here.
JPJ is doing what we all have done after our 1st Roo -- driving everyone he knows crazy with all the "Dude, you've GOT to go to Bonnaroo. It's totally awesome. Everyone is so cool. You just won't believe it. Blah, blah, blah......"

I'm guessing Led Zeppelin will happen but we won't know about it until they start playing...It won't be listed on the schedule or on the artist list, a full blown unnannounced suprise show, shocking the music world....
I hope you're right. I really hope they don't announce them, or at least have a Mystery Band type thing like they do on Ozzfest. Announce all the bands but one or two before tickets go on sale, announcing the mystery bands later. I know you can't really compare the two festivals, but I think that type of idea might work in this case.
like i said a month or so ago in some thread ( don't feel like linking it/looking it up)
Say we have Allison Kraus and Plant.
We also have Black Crowes and Page.
and we have a free unannounced superjam....
For superjam, people can slowly and gradually be brought out over the course of a couple of hours, until eventually we have (basically) Zeppelin. They play a shorter (but not short, like hour and a half set) and there.

We've got our wishes.
I'd be satisfied with that, anyone else?
I thought that too the other day, which was much later than when you probably thought of it, so I should give you karma for being the original thinker.
It would fool a lot of people if they didn't announce it as Led Zeppelin, but they had Plant/Krauss and then Black Crowes/Page. People might suspect a Plant/Page show, but then BOOM the superjam happens to be Zeppelin.
This, however, would disprove my other theory about the superjam being BB King and friends.

Allison and Robert are "pretty much" confirmed, through local papers. Just assuming if Black Crowe's sign on to play with Page as a guest.
JPJ can come on and do something for someone, hell even Hayne, and just drop a drummer off to do nothing until the show (unless the Grohl rumour holds any merrit).
Then have them all come on gradually, strategically introduces, until: "uh,.... dude,... is that 3/4 of Zep, man?.... woah."

Off topic but your Tapeworm picture just makes me very sad that we will never get to hear this band. Have Tapeworm play bonnaroo and I would be a very happy man.

It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
