So, with the late surge of Led Zeppelin rumors I was wondering how thye can avoid the ticket fiasco if they were to be announced. I was thinking that if they opened the ticket sales right after they announced the lineup, the hardcore fans keeping up with the lineup could be ready to buy them before the scalpers do. Thoughts?
Two words - Super Jam.
Now more words - Your idea could work as well. It will be a major clue if Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are in the lineup announcement and Zeppelin is not. Of course it could also not happen at all.
If zep were to play super jam unbeknownst to all of us, it would be the coolest moment in the history of music fests. That way roo-ers wouldnt be shut out or have to pay 1000 on e-bay for tix.

Personally I wouldn't want this. A lot of people (myself included) are planning on using tax returns to pay for my Roo ticket, and I haven't gotten those back yet. I want to buy a ticket immediately upon going on sale, but if they go on sale in 2 hours I sure don't have the money to buy one right now.
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
it did say SURPRISE headliner.. and didnt list them when they had the lineup underneath it. I think they jumped the gun.. im optimistic on this one
There's a post in the Radio Roo rumors thread saying the official press release said LEZ ZEPPELIN CONFIRMED (in all caps as I typed). NME probably made the f-up of the century, and other media outlets had a generic Zep story they were waiting to post once NME announced

Just out of curiosity... is there anything Superfly/Led Zeppelin/anyone else can say that would end the Zeppelin rumors? I mean, don't get me wrong... I would love to see them there! But... 1) Superfly denied it 2) Page said no touring until post-September 3) The only member on the line up is Robert Plant.
I mean, would it really take every member of Zeppelin and Superfly to publicly sign a government document in blood swearing their lives in blood that they will not play at the Roo? That's pretty much what it seems...
Ten news agencies did not screw up. The Chicago Sun Times does not use NME as a source, nor does any other reputable media outlet. When AC/Superfly and the culprits offer a logical explanation for this, I'll believe it. Until then, all bets are off.
Too many credible sources besides NME had their articles written up... and Plant is done touring May 22nd, so they could have some time to play together before heading to roo

Capps of course did personally deny it, but as for an explanation I think the most logical is that the press release jokingly began with LEZ ZEPPELIN AT BONNAROO (or something to that effect), and it's possible that someone at NME and other sites really did just miss the joke.
