^ Did they look like they could of played for another hour or so since it is a 3 hour set? I think what they will do is do there main stage show (lights and everything), and hopefully go old school for an hour and play old tracks and rare songs for them. They would be amazing to me and I would be a happy man. Tool is my only must must see because I have never seen them and I will not miss them...period!
I wasn't there =( but I really hope they can still play the old stuff, Maynard's voice is getting older. I am seeing em in greenville the week before Roo, so my first 2 Tool shows in 2 weeks, kickass.
tool, imo, is the most psychedelic band out now. i guess what makes them that way is that on the outside they're just another hard rock progressive band. but you gatta dig deeper. their music is extremely intricate, lyrics very deep, and most of all, their music and lyrics are by far the most thought provoking that ive heard. i dont know how to explain it. listen to the lateralus album a few times.
Getting into Tool has been kinda tough for me. I hardly listened to them before they were announced at bonnaroo and ever since I've forcing myself to listen to them even if i didn't really want to. What confuses me is that their music doesn't seem that psycadelic to me, just droning and deep. Is it the visuals at the live show that make them so trippy? Its also hard because I'm trying to pick which day to "get pyscadelic," Friday (Tool) or Saturday (Flaming Lips). Whose show is more trippy?
Which ever you like better would be my solution, Tool is probably darker.
Tool is a band that actually cares about the fans, their visual show is much better viewed from the "bad seats" then up close. As long as the sound is good up there you are probably much better off.
"They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon."

The lights and visuals are transcending.
Is it maybe possible to try and "make the journey" both Friday and Saturday?!
There may be a slight chance that self restraint will be difficult Friday night.
At any rate, in my opinion Tool, to me, is much like a spiritual connection, soul cleansing type of trip.
The Flaming Lips is just gonna be the straight up party! The balls to the wall, overwhelmingly upbeat atmosphere with a lot of circus-like side notes going on.
Comparing the two though, would be like comparing Pineapples and Electric Sockets.
I am never under the influence of anything when I see Tool. I have been in the past, but for the last 4 shows I decided that it is not something I want to do, and I am quite glad I came to that decision. At Roo I will stop drinking and all some time before they go on. For me its just not needed and gives me a view of the show that I do not enjoy as much as the life altering, mind blowing, and truly epic experience that I get being in my right mind.
Just me though. Enjoy Tool the way that works best for you.
