Nice first post! But I don't think Tabla Beat Science will be reforming any time soon (although Laswell's AXIOM group is almost the same thing, and they would be an awesome addition), and it's been confirmed by Waits' manager that he won't be at Bonnaroo this year.
Yeah my wish list is exactly that- wishful thinking. But that's the point right? I would love to see pretty much any Laswell project at the Roo. 2004 Praxis and Material were big time highlights. With James Blood Ulmer in the house, a Third Rail reuinion would be ill. TBS would just be cool to see. I've missed them the two times they've come through SF, Stern Grove because I crashed my car driving up from the Mojave to see the show, and The Fillmore because I was at the first Bonnaroo. What's this Axiom group you speak of? I know Axiom the label, but wasn't aware of the group.
The new Praxis should be dropping this year if they can sort out the licensing, so maybe they could do another Praxis latenight and showcase some of the guest vocalists on the album (Iggy, Patton, Killah Priest, Serj, etc.). That would be a dream come true, although the Praxis set at Vegoose was a big time letdown after the epic late night set at Bonnaroo '04.
As for Waits, I hadn't heard that. That's a bummer. He was the one act on that early rumored lineup that really got me juiced.
i think mmj and umphreys will both be back. but i dont see either getting a latenight 2 years in a row. maybe a brain damaged eggmen latenight. id love that.

we need a couple classic rock acts, some more jambands, a little more country, bluegrass or anything from that genre, some more jazz, blues, and folk, some new orleans type music, whatever its called, some latin and some afro-beat world type stuff, and a little more rap/hip-hop or reggae, and maybe a little electronica, and how bout some funk...

there are more alt/indie bands as of right now than rock and jambands, if they add more alt/indie, they best be adding some more rock and jambands too.

Give me some Ryan Adams and the Cardinals and I will be one EXTREMELY happy woman! Saw a show of his back in 2005 and it absolutly had me in awe. I have a read a lot about his shows though and they seem to be either a hit or a miss.
Other acts I would love to see..
Allman Brothers Incubus Gomez- very impressive performance last year on the Sonic Stage Red Hot Chilli Peppers Robert Randolph- saw him last year at Bonnaroo and LOVED his performance Sigur Ros Dave Matthews- still havn't seen him live yet, but I've been wanting to for years
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain I like watchin' the puddles gather rain And all I can do is just pour some tea for two And speak my point of view But it's not sane, It's not sane
I just want some one to say to me I'll always be there when you wake

Okay, at risk of losing karma... I saw Mars Volta open for RHCP and they were, in a word, unlistenable. I do not get that band at all - it was like listening to an engine sieze up for an hour.
Especially with TMV its a matter of to each his own. I never bash on people for not digging them. Like stated, that was a terrible tour for them. They had 2 replacement drummers through the tour, and had they been headlining it probably would have been either delayed or cancelled. It also depends on the venue. I know they played alot of stadiums on the last tour which always kills everything. First time I caught them was at Roseland. Roseland has great acoustics and at that point had upgraded their sound system which was very long overdue. I've been to alot of shows, but Ive never heard drums like that. Not how they where played, but how they where EQ'd and the acoustics of the room. Sounded like the largest crack of thunder Ive ever heard.

Cedric has said repeatedly that he didn't know how he made-it out on stage during alot of the tour ....and they were going through personell changes, so it really may not have been their best preformances. I didn't see them on that tour so I can't honestly comment but, I have seen them live before and they were absolutely amazing! You should really give them another shot, I think you'll be impressed. They are one of the best bands around today.
Ideed. They also had a very rough time with the Chilis audience that tour. Bunch of meathead scumbags. They actually had something happen to them that blew my mind. I cant remember the exact date, but they where playing a 1-day mini fest type of thing called Endfest. I dont remember the bands they where playing with, but alot of crappy emo/metal/hardcore groups. During their set you see something you'll never see out of them. They stopped halfway through a song, yelled at the crowd and left.
Now here'e the killer. The reason they left the stage is because some idiots in the crowd where throwing bottles of piss at them. I've never seen Omar or Cedric so angry.
Must be really hard being these guys. Having folks coming to your shows chanting "Widow, Widow!!!" and then getting pissed because they can't handle your sound.
Here's the video. Always gives me a sour taste in my mouth (no pun intended). Mainly because of the lame nuts Cedric says at the end. I like the guy, and what the fans did was uncalled for. But asking the crowd to bring you the guys head is f*cking lame. However, I could imagine being pretty pissed off myself.

yeah TMV isn't my cup of tea, but throwing piss is so stupid. i remember one of the band members saying something about free shows and merch for whoever figured out who threw the bottle of piss, I hope someone did figure it and the piss throwers got what they deserve

I doubt it. Like I said, it was pretty much a meathead crowd. I know Cedric and Omar like the Chilis personally, but give it up guys. You're bound to be a cult band, dont try to force yourself on a scene your not welcome in. It kills me to see any band play infront of a crowd that despises them. No matter how much I dislike the band its still a terrible thing to happen.

I agree with everyone else about Arcade Fire. How about Band Of Horses? I think they would fit the fest perfectly. And they are already playing Langerado. Isn't Langerado organised by the same people that do Bonnaroo?
Can't wait for Manu Chao... that will be the performance of the weekend.

As far as I know AC Entertainment and Superfly only put on the Bonnaroo and Vegoose music festivals and put on some smaller club shows during Jazzfest..........and Manu Chao is going to be incredible.

I hope the New Pornographers will be added along with Destroyer and Neko Case...if Bejar and Case are going to be there, might as well give them their own sets too!
Secret Machines would be cool actually. Never thought about them for this year. What do you guys think Wednesday's e-mail will contain? Artist announcements? Gold ticket info?
