With all the praise, I thought I'd finally get some crocs this year. I've read the threads and it seems the real ones are $30-$40. Target has some imitators for $10. Are the cheap ones okay or should I just go ahead and get the real ones?
I havent worn the imitation ones but they all feel very different. So I would say you should get the reals. Just give the real ones a squeeze and then the same on the fake ones and you will see what I mean.

I have bought cheap shoes from Target and Walmart before and it just isn't worth it. Spend the extra and know exactly what you are getting. Plus if they are for Roo, the last thing you want is blisters and sore feet.
I'm not sure about the knock offs, but Crocs seem to put a whole lot of thought into the comfort. I'm sure the imitations replicate it as best they can, yet you wonder what may be lost in the process.

They sell them at Dillards for $30 but they don't have as much selection as online. I went and tried them on there to see what size I need and then ordered the purple ones I wanted online at Crocs.com.
Online search shows 3 stores in M'boro, TN that sell them. I at least want to try them on for size before I buy even if I buy order online. Are the Caymans tha best to get?
Caymans seem to be the universal fave and probably the most versatile.
As you said -- you should definitely try them on first! Being from Colorado, where they're made, I'm sort of inundated with the things. The experts who work in the Crocs stores take it all pretty seriously and had me trying on various sizes and walking around. Apparently some folks like a looser fit and others a more snug -- god forbid you make the wrong decision!
A very close friend of mines uncle is the one that brought them to the US. The original plan was to market them to boaters. He wenat from a completely regular guy to now being a multimillionare. I think they bought him out for aroun 30 mil last year. He gave everyone in his family a $1000 best buy card for xmas.

In my experience, you need to but your crocs about a size smaller than your regular size for some reason, so trying them on somewhere first is advised, I already heard about the size issue, so the ones I got online (8's, and i usually wear a 9 or 10) fit nicely, but I had to trim my toenals so they didn't hit the ends of the shoes, but they probably needed to be trimmed anyway.

Go to Binks on the Square. They'll have everything you'd want as far as color and style.
Binks is the store that sold Crocs at Bonnaroo back in '05.
My friend and I had this great debate last year. I bought and brought the crocs, he bought and brought the imitators (a pair by vans I think). Through the first day it was looking like he made a cheaper smarter purchase as we both felt the same, but after that it was no contest. By the end of the second day my crocs were still rocking in centeroo, while my friends were sitting at the RV never to be worn again . . .
I myself doubted that I would EVER want to wear a pair of crocs, but after my first 'roo, I RESPECT the croc and the clouds of air that I feel that I am walking on

i've been wearing my girlfriends crocs, streaching them out for her, and let me tell you, even though they are tight on my feet and the imitation ones she has fit my feet, i'd take the real mccoy any day of the week. A. They're easy on your feet, B. They're made from a different, more durable, strong laminated plastic rubber, C. They wear in, not out, D. they have antimicrobials in them to keep them from smelling like roo for the rest of your life.
Ive been reading alot about how these are comfy at the roo...but as a guy im not sure that I can bring myself to wear these...

Karma for that!! So true man. Who cares! plenty plenty of dudes wear them. I guess if your worried about other guys making fun of you for it, then you should get some sort of white sneaker to fit in with the rest . . . .

Haha yeah was thinking the same. You need some holes for ventilation. I have seen plenty of men wearing the Beach ones and the Off Road ones and they look great.
Yeah, i like how they look on my. Even in the winter. I put them on and went to play in the ice, and its wild, i walked up this hill of ice in front of my building and didnt slip backwards, i felt like spiderman climbing a wall
