There is an amazing burger place in Manchester. It's called Jiffy Burger and its at 1001 Hillsboro Blvd maybe a mile away from the farm. It's killer food and they've been there since the 50's. I ant to say they are still in the original building, so seating is limited, but if you go there you will not be disappointed.
is anything going to be open in manchester when we arrive wed night at like 10 pm? I don't really eat fast food (ie mcDs, wendy's etc) even a open supermarket or walmart would work
I grew up on homemade biscuits and gravy. The only place that comes close is Hardee's. I'm not even a Hardee's fan, but the biscuits and gravy are killer. I love bojangles, but their gravy is not very good. I also like Cracker Barrell, but their gravy is nasty.

omg i so have to go to jiffys wow i have to remind people now and again that the places near sewanee university of the south are really good. i think they are still there. crustys pizza is great. take a look at sewanee while you are there . its a nice university which looks like it belongs in old england. LOVELY and a waterfall trail there too for hiking - jump into the falls and cool off!!!

There's a small town about 30 minutes Northwest of Manchester called Bell Buckle. If you can and/or you are driving by, go to The Bell Buckle Cafe, it is one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing! It's some of the best Southern food I've ever had.
Think Cracker Barrel, only homemade and local. On weekends they have zydeco/ bluegrass/ country bands playing.

This is going to sound terribly bougie, but can any of the locals recommend a good massage therapist/spa in the Manchester area? (insert happy ending joke here, ha) I'm staying over Monday night and I have a back problem that I am sure is gonna be aggravated by sleeping outside. Looking for someone who can un-pretzel me before I drive up to Pittsburgh...

Not in Manchester, but popsicle sarah works at a Spa in the greater Nashville area. She might be able to help you out.

Ah thank you! I'll ask her for the name of the place. Always great to have an inside recommendation for these things

Walmart will be the place for you to go, darling!! That's where everyone ends up anyway...the only other things open that late will be fast food! Exit 114 Happy ROO!!! ;D

ah heck yea, me and my wife ate at the german place last year, like sat night, and we were the only ones in there. i dont know why because it was delicious. and half the restaurant was sectioned off for the staff to help make homemade place settings for one of the waitresses upcoming wedding. I am actually looking forward to find out how the wedding went this year.
Well, it isn't IN Manchester, but if you haven't, you should check out Gatlinburg, TN! It's a great little city right near the Smokie Mountains. Me and my bonnacrew had made a tradition of going every year after 'roo to enjoy the mountains and the outdoors. It's truly incredible. If you are going back up north, it's on the way home so check it out!

Also, if you're looking to fill your stomach before getting in that long line of cars on I-24, feel free to throw a little business to Toot's Restaurant in Murfreesboro.
There are always some great specials, it's been voted the favorite restaurant in Rutherford County for 2 years now, and it's the oldest restaurant still running in Murfreesboro. Great service, great food.
Plus, I'm working my way through college there, so you'd be indirectly helping out a fellow inforooer! Hey, good food and karma, right? I jest, I jest.
I live just outside Manchester so I'll share a bit of what I know about around here that's been discussed in this thread.
The Gasthaus German Restaurant closed down last week. I hate that, they had awesome food.
If you want good biscuits and gravy I can recommend two mom and pops places that will satiate your taste buds: 1. If you are coming down highway 55 from McMinnville, Medley's Diner in Morrison has the best breakfast around in my opinion. It's about 12 miles northeast of Manchester on 55. Highway 55 is the road that crosses I-24 at exit 111, the Jack Daniel's Distillery exit. 2. Emma's Family Restaurant is right across from the Cracker Barrel at exit 110. They have really good breakfasts including biscuits and gravy.
If you want good pizza, J&G's right off exit 111 has some of the best pizza around. They also have killer shish-kabobs. I'm not crazy about their steak.
For good barbecue, Two Purple Pigs is right off exit 110. It's in the big purple building, you can't miss it. They also have an area out back called the "Pig Pen" where they have live music. And they do serve alcohol. Bob, the owner, is a damn cool guy. If you see a bald headed fellow running around like a chicken with his head cut off, tell him hello.
We are going to be having a little indie artist music festival leading into Bonnaroo that is totally free to give everyone something to do when they come to town early. We have over 50 music artists from all over the country representing many different genres playing for free at several places across town from May 31 to June 6. You can read more about it at www.musictreefest.com or www.facebook.com/musictreefest
Anybody know where I could pick up some Sweetwater Blue on the way from central Arkansas?
It's my favorite beer ever and it's always at Bonnaroo, but I want to get like a 24 or 30 pack or something and bring it with me
It's not sold in Arkansas!!
Good choice, but I believe it is only sold in glass bottles which are not allowed unless you just wanted to drink on your way down? I have actually bought it here in Manchester once at the beer store in the middle of town. I will ask the manager if they will restock for Bonnaroo.
Klimfactor, At Two Purple Pigs just off of exit 110 they will be having live music all evening outside. There will be a band, a comedienne, and several DJ's playing up into the night. Plus they have real good food, not just barbecue either.

I'm looking for local suggestions for Murfressboro for Wednesday night and anywhere along the way that has good biscuits and gravy for Thursday morning.

Ah, geez... I can't believe they closed. That was my favorite restaurant while I lived there. I was hoping to eat some potato dumplings and schweinebraten Wednesday..

I suppose it depends on what your tastes are, but Demos is a great place to eat in Murfreesboro.
I missed out on the Gasthaus this year, which we normally hit up during Bonnaroo. Got some good barbecue on the way out at Papa's Butts in Murfreesboro though
