First announced Sturgill show, headlining Ousidetlands. Here’s to hoping they just had a clause in his contract for it to be his first announced show back and we get him on Newport. He needs to save this fest.

Need more than that to save this fest…
I’m downtrodden, Sturgill is enough to raise my spirits at this point. For context, Dave and Gillian is a big deal for me and Adrianne and Sierra are very good cherries on top. Everything else is filler
I knew this shit was going to happen. I’d be so bummed about a Hozier, Head and Heart, Kahan as headliners. I agree, Jay should have the foresight to not be this one note.
Small silver lining is Phosphorescent in tow.
Sturgill, Flaming Lips and Joanna sternberg would go a descent way for me to feel better about the lineup.
I don’t see THATH headlining. My hope would be that if they play Saturday they are opposite something interesting like Killer Mike or Orville. Not sure where they’d fit in on Friday, either leading in or against Pumas and Hozier?
Weren’t they quad closers in 2017? I don’t get the impression they’re bigger now than they were then…

Need Sturgill bad. Post Malone doing a Country Set at Outside Lands too. Post covered Sturg Daddy.

Looks like they pre-headlined the Fort. But I agree, I do not think they are any bigger now than back then

Sunday is definitely weaker than the other 2 days at the moment. My hope is that there are mostly big acts left to announce for Sunday, here's my current schedule mock up:

After seeing Ben Howard on the Outside Lands lineup, it’s unfortunate that Newport has never landed him.

stomp clap faux-americana stuff is back with a vengeance for whatever reason
Who are the stomp clap acts this year? I’m not really into that stuff so I don’t keep up. Lord Huron was cool a few years ago, do they count?
Palmyra, Briscoe, Shovels and Rope, Chaparelle (seems to be in this style), Langhorne Slim come to mind. Guster and Black Pumas utilize it a little bit as well.
Hozier and The Head and the Heart aren’t too far off if either or both get booked.

I would think Jobi Riccio is more stomp clap than Guster or Black Pumas.
It doesn't look like Newport has a radius clause, since Black Pumas just announced an 8/2 Boston show. So, as you're wondering who might be added to the rolling lineup, artists appearing elsewhere in New England, NYC, and Philadelphia within a week of the festival could be in play.

There was some speculation about Dr. dog. Even though they aren't touring any ore they still release music here and there and do some individual shows occasionally.
New album just announced soni could definitely see a string of festival dates to help promote it
John Cruz is cool. I lived on Oahu for a few years and saw him at Jack’s festival. I’d like a Jack appearance. Don’t always listen to his music but he is a great performer. Also connections to the Marley bros and Eddie Vedder.
