This new James Blake is really, really good. It’s like you took his style from his early days of experimental electronic music and gave them really catchy, danceable banger beats. It’s the album I’ve been wanting from him for a while now

irrespective of her recent bigotries the new Roisin album kind of blows. huge disappointment all around.
Thank you for your service
7 light, unmemorable pieces of psychedelia, 2 house tracks that are among Koze’s worst productions, and the reward is one interesting track with a unique quasi trap beat that doesn’t make everything else before worth it. In the press leading up to the album Roisin would talk about how Koze would take her recorded parts and twist them in unexpected ways but there’s no way you’d be able to tell unless you already knew that. it’s the musical equivalent of this:

I’m not going to be that harsh, but agree that the house tracks are kind of weak. Granted “Can’t Replicate” appears to have a little more life in the live performance aspect with a full band. I did dig on the trap track and thought it and Hurtz so Bad were the standouts on the album on first listen.
Been a big fan of Roísin for over 15 years and was really hoping this was her big album, but it’s clear that this album doesn’t have near the life as Roísin Machine or Overpowered IMO. Still think she’s a great performer and look forward to seeing her for the first time later this month, but definitely less excited now than I was a month ago.
If you want a dance album from this week that doesn’t disappoint, Romy’s album is fantastic and continues the trend of The xx’s solo albums being better than their projects as a group
