as an aside what are you all's thoughts on Flume as a subheadliner vs Flume as a 3rd/4th name on his day?
I know he has pulled big billing at other festivals but I really don't see Paul putting that "live" show on the main stage right before a headliner and I don't see Flume being particularly more sub-worthy than any other DJ that hasn't subbed in recent years (Kygo, Zedd, DJ Snake, etc.) I feel Flume as a subheadliner would be historically unprecedented and weak. Am I alone in that regard? To me it feels more likely he goes 3rd or 4th on his day and plays Outdoor again, with a chance at Main Stage sunset on Sunday. In the past I wouldn't have believed he would play the same Outdoor closing slot two appearances in a row but DJ Snake doing the same thing between 2017/2019 debunks that argument IMO.
I have nothing but fond memories of watching the live stream in 2016 and seeing the Jack U fans standing through Sufjan Stevens’s set. I would have nothing but similarly high hopes if MCR/JT occurred.

Agreed. Disclosure would be such a better mainstream EDM fit to sub. Flume live show is not worthy of main. I don’t see him as a Sahara fit, either. Outdoor closer?

#3 also makes sense, but at Sunday Main Sunset time.
Make Missy Elliott a sub?
Halsey or Dua Lipa as a #3 on any day seems inevitable

Janelle Monae & Solange subbed last year and I'd say Flume is bigger than both. In fact Flume was billed above Janelle Monae at both fests they both played.
I'm not basing that purely in terms of popularity, but more about genre/artistic quality of the show. Many DJs bigger than Flume have not subheadlined. Subheadliner is not inherently the biggest artist on the second line but rather one they are showcasing, and my thinking is that Flume is not worth showcasing (EDM in general is never the subheadliner, ODESZA and Swedish House Mafia the only two exceptions I can think of)
What drumpf said. He virtually had the same placement at Lolla that Tame did, and he was #4 on his day in 2016 and closed the outdoor. He’ll be no lower than 4 again and will have a mainstage slot if he plays. We dont need to over think this.

#3 acts being more popular than the sub headliner has been a relatively common trend. Seeing FKA Twigs sub with Flume as a #3 fits with that.

I was wrong about Coachella wanting them and wrong about where they would play if they did. I don't know if I'd see any of the top 6 pre-schedule drop, but that's a pretty massive top 6 to move tickets you'd think. You've got a lot of die hard fan bases there without a ton of crossover.

I have nothing but fond memories of watching the live stream in 2016 and seeing the Jack U fans standing through Sufjan Stevens’s set. I would have nothing but similarly high hopes if MCR/JT occurred.
Sort of like The 1975 fans watching Ghost?
Where did this happen? It sounds quacking magical!

Watching Gerard Way fans wait through Run The Jewels and 1975 fans waiting through Danny Brown were equally entertaining

Janelle Monáe was 11th at Lolla, they don’t have to match up. I wouldn’t be surprised if Flume subs because I’m sure he’ll have a ton of guests to up his live show but he could def he 3 or 4 on his day.

The Jack U fans were actually very courteous and respectful, if not very enthused. NMH into Lana, on the other hand. "Why would Coachella book a Christian Rock band!?" #Lana2020
I think there’s way more overlap between people that would want to see Justin Timberlake and MCR than suf/jack u.
Yeah, this honestly doesn't seem that farfetched to me. I'm sure many people did, but if you were in middle school or high school in the mid 2000's there was a pretty good chance you listened to both.
