Ahhhhh. Box of Merlot and some Eric Clapton on the deck tonight. Homemade salsa is the bomb! Dude at local Farmers Market had Jalapenos today....oooooooweeeee. lfe is good. Hope your gig went well jdstultz.
A couple things: 1. I'm loving Portugal The Mans new album and anxious to hear J Roddys latest...two HO artists I'd love to see back in 2018.
2. The only person I know that likes Imagine Dragons is my 7 year old and he likes them a whole lot. It should also be noted that in the record store yesterday he looked for Kurt Vile and Beastie Boys but came home with Paul Simon (Graceland).
3. If you haven't watched The Defiant Ones on HBO yet, you need to do so now.

Seems we all had a lot of big concerts last night. The Who were great. I had last viewed a live set at one of the televised benefit concerts and thought the vocals were shot. Not last night. They rocked for two hours. Not bad for a couple guys in their 70s.
On to a Pigeons run. Seeing them five times in the next month and a half including fests.

LCD kicked ass on Friday which was to be expected. I'll probably never attend Pitchfork again though unless it's my only shot to see an act for that year (like LCD was).

Why?
First off, having to wait 40 minutes to get a beer is unacceptable. You had to wait in a long ass line jus to get drinking tickets, then wait in another line to actually get a beer. Because of the super small scale, there weren't a bunch of beer tent options. Same thing with the ticket options. Sound was average at best. Absolutely nothing "special" about the festival experience at all. Maybe part of it is living in Chicago, but it's just such a blah, half-ass festival to me. They get some interesting bookings for a lot of people on this board so I get that part of it but the festival "experience" was subpar.

how was danny?
He was pretty entertaining. You can probably still watch it if you can find the stream video from Pitchfork Friday from (I think) Blue Stage. It's the one that starts out with Vince Staples. You can rewind it or fast forward through that 3/4 hours block. If the link I posted from the Pitchfork thread is still available, then you can watch it. I'll come back and edit it in.
Btw, I always like North Coast and Lollapolooza's lineups the best of the Chicagoland festivals.
No longer available in the stream format. You can probably find most of it if you dig.

Also, he cleaned up a little and trimmed his hair. So he doesn't look as derelict anymore.
Danny and Vince were fine. Nothin memorable. But I just saw LCD announced 2 shows at the Aragon now that Pitchfork is done lol. Your boy got duped.
You staying for the Gorillaz @ ACL?
Nah me and the lady are going to Vegas that weekend instead. She wasn't really feeling the lineup and I figured why drop the money for the daily tickets for me and her when she doesn't really care about the music.
JUICY JAY You are in Austin right? Just found out my quarterly business trip is in Austin next month instead of the usual California trip. I have no idea if they will schedule me for a fly in/fly out type trip or if they will give me a couple days but I'd definitely like to catch some cool music if I can while down there.

The actual meeting will be on 8/30. Probably fly in on the 29th and do some team-building dinner/drinks that evening. I am not sure on any other specifics.

There is about a 99% chance it will be hotter than Buffalo*.
There is a 75% chance you will find decent BBQ and/or Tex-Mex and/or Experimental Food Trucks.
* We were up in Cuba, NY one year for July 4th (early 2000's) where it was hotter in Buffalo at the airport at 10:00pm than it was when we left New Orleans that afternoon. You guys had like 4 days of extreme heat. My mother-in-law's didn't have A/C because usually they only need it a couple of days a year down in the Southern Tier.

I have been to San Antonio a few times but never actually in Austin. The western NY weather in the summer is strange now. It is either rain or extreme heat. We push 90 on many days it isn't raining in July, August and early September. All about that BBQ and Tex-Mex.
