Now that I'm past the rage aspect of the Tennessee game, I can put out a more cogent reaction to it.
I think the reason behind the strong reactions to the two losses this season has a bunch to do with how they lost and their similarity. Tennessee gets up going into the fourth quarter by aggressive play calling and taking chances only to see the lead evaporate when everything suddenly gets conservative. A good portion of Tennessee fans can recite General Neyland's Maxims from memory (I can't because I can't remember shit like that). I saw multiple people quote this one yesterday. "7.) Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes." You just got the feeling that the team got the lead and started playing not to lose rather than to win. I could understand it during the Oklahoma game. Mistakes happen. Honestly, I can see how they're not used to leading in big games yet. With Florida, I saw that aggressive play calling continue for longer, and I felt like Jones had seen how his choices had cost him Oklahoma and had responded. Instead, I see the same exact plan happen again with the exact same results. That's hard to watch as it begins to form itself as a trend in your mind, and that's not a trend you want to see.
Speaking of trends, most anyone who has remotely been in contact with Tennessee football has heard the phrase Brick by Brick about a million times. You hear the hype behind the recruiting classes not only in local media but the national news. You see Tennessee get name dropped as a legit (if still dark horse) contender for the SEC title. You start to think that you finally have a reason to have a certain amount of hope behind this season for the first time in years and years. The team is going to start turning those blowouts into games and the close losses into victories. All the waiting, the patience and listening to other fans smack talk your team is finally going to pay off. This is the year Tennessee does something. What we get is Tennessee dropping the first two competitive games in the worst way possible. I 100% believe fans wouldn't be as mad right now if we had lost 28-13 against Florida or Oklahoma. I think people would have been more willing to write it off as it just not being our day.
This is the part where I bring up that Tennessee was the solid underdog in the Oklahoma game and hovered between an underdog and even in the Florida game depending on who was making the line. Neither of these games were ones where Tennessee was supposed to win really much less win big with. Once again, it's really the how of the loss that made it hard to watch for everyone.
In addition, there's just a matter of who it is with the Florida game. sang_xcx posted on my facebook before the game asking how I was able to deal with my team losing to a rival school for ten straight years. He related in saying that the five years South Carolina had a streak on Clemson was really tough on him and their fanbase. As I was speaking with a co-worker a few weeks ago, I think a good portion of the fanbase would be okay with Tennessee going 5-7 this year as long as Florida was one of the five. People see that streak and just want it to end.

That was a tough one. I can't even imagine losing 11 in a row like that. It seems like at this point you're expecting it/almost accepting it. Then they tease you by blowing it the way that they did. That was cruel. It looks like TN and FL are both headed in the right direction. That game is going to mean something again, maybe as soon as next year. I watched it this year for the first time in a while.
Damn son. The Bruins are putting the hammer down on Arizona. This is surprising.
I hear there was a rare case of spontaneous amnesia going around. Pretty hard to win when you're defense forgets how to tackle and your center forgets the qb is neither 12 nor 2 feet tall. Losing the qb in the second quarter certainly didn't help, even though that back up did get another crazy td ruin on his first play in. Once ucla realized he has the accuracy of a musket it was all over.

Welp, that whole going to the swamp thing was a great experience and, of course, a terrible experience. Losing Maggitt hurt this week, but the players played well enough. This was on the head football coach and his shart. There were at least 4 decisions that I had major problems with and the scary thing is that I'm not wrong about any of them.

My brother is a fairly annoying ND fan...rooting for Clemson on Saturday although I will be watching UF/Ole Miss. Will be at the VT/Pitt game on Saturday. It's a needed game for the Hokies...if we lose our schedule sets-up in which we more than likely be 4-6 going into our last two games.
It's sad, as I have realized that as long as Beamer continues to be HC all we can hope for is to keep the UVA streak going and make bowl games. Our defense once again is vastly overrated.
Edit: Stole this from a friend of mine on FB. "James Summers ran for 169 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's win, and since the start of 2014, the Hokies have surrendered 1,258 rushing yards to opposing QBs on non-sack plays -- most in FBS by a wide margin. Summers is the seventh different QB to run for at least 99 yards against the Hokies since the start of 2014."
Did anyone else think for a few seconds that the crazed Clemson super fan covered in soda and on a dude's shoulders was none other than our very own Sang? Are you at least related to that guy, Sang?
P.S. Shout out to the "don't believe the liberal media!" flag. Way to fuck up the fun, dickbag.
I got waaaay too annoyed by the "Rudy wasn't offsides" sign. Really man? That's the BEST you can come up with?
someone on r/cfb lost a bet over Notre Dame/GTech and had that as his "signature" on all his posts for the past week. I assumed it was a reference to that.
Even though VT had another disappointing performance that has gave me cold-like symptoms...I'm a pretty happy fella. This is the best Florida has looked since Meyer has left. Made a statement in the first half, need to keep the throttle down.
