I haven't listened to Kamasi Washington, Nosaj Thing, or Shamir. I feel like I should do that, based on this thread and Now Playing. Godd^mn you people. Improving my life with music and shit. Fuckin' a.
Having a really tough time with this month. I can't stop going back and forth between Hot Chip and Shamir. Playing them in unison is so complete. I feel like one is strong where the other lacks. Then Thee Oh Sees and Metz are also awesome. I can't pick a standout between them.

Is it too early to cast my vote? I'm heading to the beach so I probably won't get a chance to listen to anything new and absorb it. My vote is for:
I feel like she was speaking to me with this album. She comes across as very conflicted spiritually, and where I was raised and where I am now...it seems like she wrote this album for me. My vote for album of the month.
I assume that I'm going to probably vote for Patrick Watson based on my bias towards him and his catalog of music, but there are definitely some albums that will give him a run for the money.
My biggest dilemma right now is deciding which albums I'm downloading and burning for my road trip this weekend.
Right now I'm between MMJ and Thee Oh Sees, with Hot Chip in third. I haven't heard a bunch of albums, including King Gizz though. I think with King Gizz, I may have to bite the bullet and download that one off Amazon.

Yeah, I've had all sorts of trouble trying to find a download for that King Gizz album. I'd really appreciate a PM if anybody has found one.
Back on the thread topic, Mutilator Defeated At Last is the favorite for my vote right now and I kinda doubt anything beats it.
I've been a little behind on listening to new music this month since I've been out of town a good bit. Anyway, holy shit, that Shamir album, holy shit.
so, i'm really trying hard to decide between these: the bad plus joshua redman snarky puppy +metropole orkest unknown mortal orchestra
really really good stuff: hot chip paul weller holly herndon colin stetson
other honorable mentions: Mikal Cronin Thee Oh Sees The Word Django Django weather Station Prurient
forgot kamasi washington. and despite that being such a collection of great music, it is a monster. I have listened to the whole thing a couple times, but can't do it all in one sitting. it can get exhausting. such frenetic lines.

hadn't heard this yet; listening now and really dig it!
I'm gonna give myself another couple days before voting, but I'm leaning towards Tallest Man on Earth right now. The Shamir and Hot Chip albums are pretty fantastic, but TMoE was a really anticipated release for me and did not disappoint.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

April was kind of a dud so I'm glad May was a nice rebound. Lots of good stuff this month but nothing is going to beat this for me. This has quickly become my second favorite album of the year.
Shamir- Ratchet
So much fucking fun. I can't stop dancing whenever I listen to it. His voice is pretty killer too.
2. Hop Along- This album was really great, I'm glad that they're getting a lot of attention. Really raw vocal performances and extremely catchy melodies. Powerful Man is one of my favorite tracks of the year so far
3. Thee Oh Sees- Not much to say other than some gnarly rock and roll
