Sub headliners? Just a guess based on tour dates.
Pixies-(No Chicago date on their upcoming tour, and played Riot in 2013). Still possible they play Riot again, but they did pop up on Shaky Knees, so I'm liking their chances.
Modest Mouse-(There's no Chicago date, I mean with the way they've been selling out, this has to be a Lolla act right?) Still possibility of Riot, but I pray Lolla didn't miss the boat with this one.
TVOTR-(A nice return from these guys, who have barely any festivals lined up this year. This would be a nice booking from Lolla.) For their catalog, a 75 min set should suffice.
Weezer-(They played Riot last year, rarely touring this year. They are playing that Gathering of the Vibes in CT the same weekend, possibly. Would be a nice get for Lolla.
Passion Pit- (Even with their show in May in Chicago, I think since they haven't chosen many festivals this year: this could be a nice get for Lolla).
Alt-J-(They played Lake Shore to a massive crowd in 2012, for their popularity and style of music, I see them playing a 6:00 slot).
The Decemberists-(Haven't played Lolla in a minute. Popped up on Coachella lineup, they love to share acts. I could see them getting a 75 min set.
Who do you guys see getting sub spots?
Last year's subs were. Friday: Lorde, Broken Bells Saturday: Spoon, Foster the People Sunday: Childish Gambino, Avett Brothers
Geez. Almost forgot St. Vincent. For shame on me, one of my favorite artists, and I can't see her closing grove at this point. In a dream world, St. Vincent opening for Kanye would make me super giddy. This would be the perfect slot for people who somehow still don't know Annie Clark, and wipe any memory from not knowing who she is, once that set is over. Regardless, she will undoubtedly deliver one of the best sets, if not the best set. Just saw her on thurs, and she's going for it. It was a full fledged rock show, that knocked me on my ass. Even though I saw her last year for the first time, this time had similarities but the solos were longer and her dancing was even more elaborate. Her band mates have also kicked it up a notch. A must see indeed, and unless she plays the same day as Kanye on an opposite stage: I will be there early for her set to get front row again.
Last Edit: Mar 7, 2015 3:06:02 GMT -5 by eclecticmusicdude89: St. Vincent could totally sub and blow out minds. - Back to Top

Honestly if we manage to get Metallica and Ye, along with these undercard rumors like St Vinny, Mod Mouse, TVOTR, OM&M I'll be ecstatic. Idc what the other headliners are.

I need a lineup. There's all these tours for new albums that have been coming out and I'm holding off on them so I can afford going to Lolla this year. I need to know if it's worth it or not!!

Does anyone think that if Drake played, he could be on Bud Light. Think about it, Sam Smith would most likely be on Bud Light: he and Drake would pull a similar audience. Lorde had like 50k at her set, and she wasn't even a headliner. Drake could pull a hefty amount. Call me crazy, but if Coldplay can play Bud Light in 2011, while Muse played Red Bull on the same night? Would it be so far fetched to think that Muse would be billed in that Top 3 over Drake?
Side note: maybe there is no EDM main stage headliner this year. This year's lineup could be similar to 2013, where there was no EDM headliner.
Metallica/Kanye West/Muse Drake/Sam Smith/Florence and the Machine
With the additional news that has come out in the last few weeks I feel like this is a pretty realistic mock of what we're looking at. And I for one would love it...
METALLICA | DRAKE | MUSE SAM SMITH | FLORENCE & THE MACHINE | AXWELL ^ INGROSSO MODEST MOUSE | KASKADE | TAME IMAPALA | ALABAMA SHAKES BASSNECTAR | OF MONSTERS & MEN | HOT CHIP | MAJOR LAZER | ST. VINCENT | TV ON THE RADIO
I want Yeezus there more than anything but I just have a bad feeling about it. A top 3 of Metallica/Kanye/Muse would be amazing and I just refuse to get my hopes up for that so Drake it is.
Anyway we look at it, it would be pretty difficult for Lolla to disappoint this year. Metallica and Kanye not being there would be disappointing but there are so many good acts to make up for it. I'm excited for this year a lot more than I was last year.

Ok no disrespect to the EDM heads here, but this whole "Swedish House Mafia broke up, so let's get each individual one in consecutive years" business should cease. Are there no other EDM headliners that C3 could book? I honestly feel like SHM breaking up has made them even more demanded/popular. Meanwhile Basement Jaxx, Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, Aphex Twin, and more just keep getting skipped over.
I'm just curious... does anyone in the festival-going community actually like or listen to Drake? I know the regular listening community does, but they also listen to Taylor Swift and the like. I don't really see much functional difference between one pop act and the other when they don't offer much to the hipster/indie/festival community.
What I'm saying is... Eminem has a history and an edginess and an attitude and changed the game. Kanye is the same, creative behemoth with attitude who changed the game. Outkast were creative and interesting and nerd/hip/frat friendly without ODing in any direction. Drake seems (to me) to be just a pop star. Am I wrong? Tell me I'm wrong, and what I should listen to to shake me out of this thinking. Or don't, and I'll just cross the field and watch the other act.
In Bloom Festival 3/18-3/19 Houston, Texas Rock Werchter Festival 7/5-7/8 - Werchter, Belgium Mad Cool Festival 7/12-7/14 - Madrid, Spain Austin City Limits 10/5-10/7 - Austin, Texas

There's plenty of Lolla attendees who are into Drake. He's definitely more than a disposable popstar, despite not having any "edge." He has great production, great R&B performances. 0-100 is dope, Take Care and Hold on We're Going Home are both great songs. I mean, I like all those rappers you named a lot more, but I'm getting tired of all the Drake as a punchline talk. He's perfectly good at what he does and he's legitimately influential and respected by his peers.
