It's just weird that Goat got 6 votes and Mark McGuire got zero in Feb.
I do not see any similarities or connections between the new albums of Mark McGuire and Goat.
They've both played Austin Psych Fest previously...that's gotta be it, right?
To be fair though, they both definitely have a psychedelic bend to them, but they're on opposite ends of that spectrum. No way would I necessarily expect a fan of one to be a fan of the other. I'm sure there are lots of crossovers between the two, but to assume it is a bit much imo.

Yeah, that's more my point, I would have expected SOME love for Mark McGuire, given how much love Goat is getting. Of course, Goat playing Bonnaroo helps.
Is there anything that's remotely going to come close to Flying Lotus this month?
Caribou.
I'm already pretty sold on FlyLo. But I've only listened to Caribou once, so we'll see if more listens change my mind. RtJ should be great, but I don't see it passing either of those imo.

They are both great, but Caribou is like, oh my goodness.
I am loving Caribou, Goat, and Perfume Genius' albums from September. But that Aphex Twin album... I couldn't get into at all. That's the good thing about music. Everyone has their own tastes.
Caribou and Goat were great live when I saw them... I had never heard of Perfume Genius, though. Great band.

I truly wish Iceage's vocals were different. I absolutely cannot stand dude's voice. That record is outstanding in every other regard.
It sucks, because musically, it is an album that really should really appeal to non-punk people, but the vocals can be so off-putting that many will never dig into it. Everybody should though. The arrangements and structures make it one of the most incredible and interesting takes on rock music in recent years.

you tend to "get it" when ya see them live maybe? im a big fan of his vocals and stage persona. i watched him remove someones bike helmet and punt it to the back of the crowd then dive into the crowd at the guy he pulled the helmet off of. I saw him having a smoke after the show, and as i walked by i did the typical "awesome fucking show man" and extended my hand. he paused, moved the smoke from one hand to the other, and i felt like he was either going to shake my hand, or head butt me. he went with the former, which is too bad. Woulda made for a better story.

Caribou is this month, fyi.
Thanks - definitely my early lead for October, then.

I've always felt this way about Iceage. I've really enjoyed their style, but I just cannot stand his vocals at all. It's just this mushy, mealy mouthed sing-slur that I find extremely offputting. It actually bums me out, because otherwise I think they're stellar.
Weezer's new album is not bad - definitely their best album since Pinkerton. And much better than most of the other stuff I heard from this month. I still need to listen to FL, though.
