Didn't think anything would top Lazeretto, but here we are. On about listen #15 of this album and it is as fresh as ever. By far my strongest month yet.
1. Phox - S/T 2. Jack White - Lazeretto 3. The Orwells - Disgraceland 4. Strands of Oak - HEAL 5. First Aid Kit - Stay Gold
HM: Sam Smith - In The Lonely Hour, The Antlers - Familiars
Almost impossible for me to decide between this and Strand of Oaks. Also loved The Antlers and Lana. Can't believe Phish didn't even make my top 5 for the month.[/quote]
I still don't know what to vote for, and I think I've only heard a couple of albums more than twice. Haven't gotten around to a few multiple vote getters as well.
I have obsessed over this album like I have on Deerhunter releases and the Blue Album as a kid. Black and White (FTR, the 7" version, that they thankfully tacked onto the end of the album, is better) hits on everything I like best about music. This record has me looking at various objects and imagining them instantly disassemble (but not explode or demolish). And my god, does Ducking & Dodging rip.
Parquet Courts - Sunbathing Animal
Other favorites: Total Control - Typical System Strand of Oaks - Heal Nux Vomica - Nux Vomica Forgot this was released earlier. Zig Zags - Zig Zags White Lung Lana Del Rey YAITW
you deserve a medal. Are we friends again?
We never stopped being friends, my enthusiastic neighbor to the north.

Oh looks like I waited too long to make my decision.
I thought voting usually runs a few days into the next month?
It's always been the first release date of the next month. It just feels off because the 1st was the next release date. Next month will be the 5th. I figure a week after the last date is a good cut off time.
Will be checking out these in July: Sia La Roux Antemasque, featuring former Mars Volta bandleader Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea Morrissey Jenny Lewis Shabaz Palaces The Black Angels White Fence Marc Broussard
Also, expecting leaks from Spoon and Bear in Heaven at some point next month.
Another July record people here might be into is Little Daylight. They're major label synth-pop. If you ever wished Churches sounded more like the Bangels, this album is for you.
Jonah Tolchin - Clover Lane may be of interest to some as well. He's coming to Nashville' The 5 Spot later this month and I may try and catch the show.
