How about them Winthrop Eagles??? We're going to the finals baby!
The last time we won the Big South was back in my senior year of college, so it's real exciting to have another chance to see my boys bring the title home. We'll surely wind up in one of the play in games if we do happen to beat VMI/Coastal tomorrow, and that is A-OK with me.
Fun fact: I was watching Gregg Marshall coach my team back before he was THAT Gregg Marshall. The man brought so much passion for the game and love to his players. He deserves every bit of success he's attained.

Was that the brutal first round loss to that overrated Tennessee team? I remember picking Winthrop in my bracket for whatever dumb reason, but I seem to remember legitimately believing it was going to happen.
That was the year before I started going to WU as a student. Chris Lofton nailed a contested three to knock us out in that game. We were so hopeful we could beat Tennessee because the year before Winthrop had a similar loss to a tough Gonzaga team. It wouldn't be until my freshman year that we would get our first NCAA tournament victory against Notre Dame. Coach left us after that season.
Super ready for tonight. If Carolina beats Duke again, I think we're a 3-seed and if we win the ACC Tourney, we have a legit shot at a 2 seed.
Welp….4th seed isn't terrible. At least now McAdoo will shave the god-awful beard. Duke lives and dies by the 3. Today they lived.
Duke's a two-man team and Hood and Parker were both very on their game last night (for a second there, right after the four-point-play, I thought Paige was about to go apeshit and have a legacy game). If one of those two struggles in the tournament, Duke's in big trouble.
I suspect the final 1 seed is up for grabs in the ACC Tournament if Duke, Virginia, or Syracuse wins it.
I really hope Duke gets the 2 seed in the West. The only thing better than beating Duke once in a season would be beating them a second time in the tourney. Especially since we mopped the floor with them back in the Sweet 16 at the very same arena it will be in this year.
End of the UMass/SLU game was infuriating. Tie game, 36 seconds left. SLU blocks a UMass shot, refs call it a held ball, possession to SLU. Jordair Jett hits a layup with 3.4 left to put SLU up two. Chazz Williams hits the 5 o'clock position of the rim from 40-45 feet, but it bounces idly away. Ugh.

We can talk about 2001 whenever you like.
Duke probably gets 2 seed in the South or East if they win the ACC Tourney. 3 seed who knows where, with a loss.

Actually they shot a very pedestrian 8/23 from 3 pt range. They won because they dominated the interior. And because Parker and Hood realized no one on that team can guard them consistently.

My Bearcats snagged their first conference championship in a decade and then took the #1 seed in the AAC tourney from Louisville on a coin toss. Then, SK was just named 1st team All-American by NBCSports. So, I'm a happy camper today.

"Winning" the #1 seed has them lined up to have a road game in the semis, though. I think Louisville dodged a bit of a bullet, even though Memphis isn't exactly a juggernaut.

Yeah, I think Louisville definitely has a slightly easier road to the finals. I'd rather not play Memphis again on the road. Yeah, we beat the hell out of them in that arena in January, but they did hang 84 points on us the other night in a losing effort.
I have got to find a way to watch the upcoming U of L games. I'm in North Carolina and have no idea who will be showing the AAC tournament.
ESPN. The AAC retained the tv contracts of the old Big East.
Awesome. I don't have cable back home so I was used to having to go to bars to watch the games. Staying with some family here that has ESPN, now it's just a matter of convincing them to tune in.
I'll probably get around to creating the ESPN Tournament Challenge league tonight while I watch the 1st round of the AAC tournament.
Good luck to everyone's respective teams in their league tourneys. The ACC should be fun to watch!
Semifinal Saturday SHOULD be one for the ages. I wouldn't be surprised to see NC State or Maryland "spoil" the party, though. But who am I kidding. I'd love to see Jabari Parker and TJ Warren go basket for basket for 40 minutes.
Louisville made a fool out of Rutgers. They've been on fire this past month or so.
Louisville is obviously very very good, but good God is Rutgers going to drag down the Big Ten next year. Fucking football.
Aaaand I just saw the final of that game. The fuck?
Yeah I'm definitely not implying that Rutgers was really a challenge, but Louisville has been playing very well the past month. I believe they are now 10-1 in the past 11 games. Their only losses this year have been to Memphis and Cinci. I think they'll take Memphis this time around, but Cinci should be a good game.
