I was always a staunch supporter of the Albarn side in Blur v. Oasis, but oh f*ck no. Not even close.
I kind of always thought it was Stone Temple Pilots, to be honest. Both have massive recognizable hits, a staggering amount of popularity with certain crowds, no discernable talent, cheesy, derivative songs and styles, and both came to prominance by aping the worst characteristics of a certain sound (Journey = late '70s glam/arena rock, STP = Seattle, in general). Both have continued with multiple replacement lead singers. Both continued to make sh*tty music long after they stopped being even slightly relevant.
Oasis gets a pass because at least they were aping the Beatles? I guess I buy that.
