they're going to need Warrick Dunn to win it this year.
Warrick Dunn > CJ Spiller
GET AT ME SON
Dunn was a great one. but he was also on better teams. CJ carried his team on his back. did Dunn return kicks and make plays catching the ball? I seriously can't remember. CJ did it all, whenever we needed a big play he made it.
Half of those are Dooley, though. I had the Dooley era Eternal Sunshine-d out of my brain.
yea half of ours was after we fired our greatest coach for no reason in the early 90's, then one in 98 that got a coach fired and one in Dabo's first full season when we were 6-7 with a loss in bowl game. I've never had to endure a stretch like you're going through right now. I'm only making fun of it because of Dave.
It's pretty depressing. I think back to when I was in college, and we felt like complete failures when we only had single digit wins. Now 6 wins and a bowl game would actually be an accomplishment.

for us, we were stuck on 8-9 wins and couldn't get over that hump for 20 years. so while we never really sucked we had lots of disappointment.

That's actually a completely reasonable response, Sang. I'm impressed. He was always a great receiving RB (130 receptions in his four years at FSU), but I don't think he returned kicks.

of course CJ looked up to Warrick. that's why he wore 28. CJ is the most exciting college football player, I've ever seen, but I know I'm biased saying that. he did single handedly put Clemson back on the map. all the attention he received lead to Sammy Watkins and all of the other great players we are getting right now.
Which is funny because this all started because I decided to be the nice guy back in the day and have your back and support Clemson against the naysayers. Then, they totally sh*t the bed in the second half of the season.
Second, a serious question for sang_xcx, Siggy, custeph and G: would you be as confident of a 10 win season if you had to go at least 3-2 versus Oregon, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina and Georgia?

I think we would win 3 out of those 5. we already have to play 2 of those. Florida is definitely a winnable game, at home I would expect to win.

No. I think we'd put up a good fight against some of those teams, but realistically I don't think we would have a 10 win season.

Wouldn't say confident, but talking about this season's team, I could definitely see it happening.
Then I guess they've come a long way. This was the first Clemson game I remember watching as a kid, and it made a youthful impression to not root for Clemson.

God I'm glad our AD is smart enough not to screw stuff up that much. We have new uniforms and helmets and they are not awful, which these days is all you can ask for. I know most people are against adding colors, but I really like our new copper helmets.

Why copper? Just curious if it has anything to do with Arizona or if they just thought it looks pretty.
Apparently, UT's have gotten some little tweaks this year. For some reason, they haven't made any official announcement, but the changes are in the new NCAA Football game.
Also, they added a state patch on the back above the name. It's all part of Jones's push for UT to be seen as the university for the entire state and not just East TN.

Copper mining was a big industry in Arizona, especially southern Arizona. In the late 19th century the majority of people moving to the Arizona territory were doing so for copper mining related jobs and it is still an important industry today (less so because of mining in South America where the costs are much lower).
Copper is one of the 5 C's of Arizona which was a marketing campaign the state had for something like 30 years (copper, cotton, cacti, citrus, climate)
On top of that the UofA has had one of the countries premier mining colleges since the early 1900s and the University as a whole has been utilizing copper as a motif throughout campus including in the architecture.
Here is the new stadium expansion/football facilities that will be completed by the beginning of the season
PS Want proof I've been working at the info desk too damn long? All the above is from memory
We've got the statewide campaign going as well; it is branded as "Arizona is Wildcat Country". It mostly consists of these billboards at all the major ways to enter the state, including outside the Phoenix airport.
It must be working well enough because the UofA just signed a new radio rights deal with a station in Phoenix that is worth more than the deal ASU has in Phoenix (ASU is in Phoenix).
Georgiaaaaa!! as long we beat spurrier and LSU then we should be good to go until the SEC game again....sports life was tough for me as a Georgia, Falcons, and Braves fan last year :/ lol.

A lot of fun gets made of Clemson on this board, but if you can put your Sang-hate away for a few minutes & read these articles, maybe you'll see why I love my university so much. And if you can spare 5 minutes, watch the video that is part of the first link.
I am sure all colleges & universities have their feel good stories, but I believe I can say pretty fairly that Clemson has some really good ones.
