Just found out that Manziel has a tattoo in tribute to some crew Drake is affiliated with on his wrist. Supposedly that is what his and Tajh Boyd's "pay me" celebrations are in reference to.

"This isn't a slick, subconscious way of advertising Drake's upcoming Nothing Was The Same. Manziel has been building a relationship with Drake since the two met in Toronto during this year's spring break. Apparently, the meeting has changed Manziel's life for the better according to him, although it's not exactly clear how yet if he's getting benched for misconduct this early in the season. In July, Drake gave Manziel a shoutout after SEC Media Day for the way he handled himself, so the relationship between the two has goes beyond fandom. There's also that "money finger rub," which it's actually not. It's a reference to TOPSZN, a movement associated with OVO. OB O'Brien, who's part of the movement and a close friend of the artist, shouted out Manziel on Instagram for the celebration. Who knew Manziel was this tied to Drake's circle? This quarterback never ceases to surprise, and this is off the football field we're talking about."
Sang, Clemson just gave up 545 yards and 35 points.
Pitt gave up 533 yards and 41 points.
What exactly makes you think Clemson will fare any better than Pitt, given the facts (week 1, apparently being all you're content on acknowledging - not even getting into the fact that Clemson had a worse defense last year)?

we were playing one of the top 5 offenses in the country. and since we're so caught up on what they did last year, we held them under their average.

Georgia's average last year was 467.64 yd per game (which put them at 22nd), so actually, you gave up 77 yards more than their average last year.

So Clemson was playing a top 5 offense but FSU wasn't playing a top 40 defense? I thought we were just talking about this season? It's hard to keep up.
Pitt is not going to be a top 40 defense. it's not that hard to understand.

Based on what? How many starters did they lose? What were they ranked last year?
Speaking of defensive rankings, is there any site on the world wide web in 2013 that has a historical database of college stats? I've been looking for like 2 days.

So @jeffp1717, just to make sure you have it straight, 9 returning starters does nothing to prevent you from dropping 23+ spots in yards per game from year to year but having 10 returning starters (one of which is now out for the season) assures you will rise 17+ spots in yards per game from year to year. #sanglogic

I found those NCAA ranking by googling them. If you try to switch to another category, it will default back to the 2013 rankings. It's a pain in the ass.

based on this is not last year and I just saw them play. use your eyes. I found one a while back, I posted about it either in here or the NFL thread, can't remember the site right now.

what are you even talking about? Pitt defense is not good this year. I don't care about your stats.

My bad. I would have thought that yards per game would be a meaningful stat.

Sang, I'm not even being a d*ck here, saying "use your eyes" is easily the worst argument a person can make. Human perception is unreliable.
The fact here is it's just as likely (and, imo, more likely) that the FSU offense is going to steamroll people all year as it is that Pitt's defense is terrible.
They're returning 9 starters from a top-tier unit, it's not terrible the way you're making it seem.

you keep talking about last year. they're in a new league, playing completely different teams. we've seen them play once and they did not look like a good defense.

why can't it be both? FSU's offense is going to put up lots of points (especially with that schedule). but also, Pitt's defense is not going to be good.
if I'm wrong, I'm now on record saying it like 30 times, because you guys won't let it go. Pitt's defense is not good. check with me again after the season. tired of discussing a bad football team.

And I listed that they played at least 6 teams last year that went to bowls (Clemson played 7) so please quit acting like they played nobody last year and the ACC is such a ridiculous upgrade in team quality that you can totally ignore what they did last year.

Why can't Pitt's defense be good? Because a team that's going to put up 40 points a game put up 40 points a game on them?

It's not that Pitt is going to be a good or bad defense. It's that you are totally unwilling to even entertain the idea based off of one game. By the same logic, Clemson's offense was subpar last year because they only put up 17 against South Carolina.
My bad. I would have thought that yards per game would be a meaningful stat.
Yeah, I can't even do this anymore. I don't know how you keep it up without going insane.
Fact is, if you think Pitt has a sh*tty defense this year then that means Clemson, too, has -- wait for it -- a sh*tty defense.
You only look at what you want to look at. Lets go by your logic of only looking at week 1 in 2013. That means your figure about Clemson playing a 'top 5 offense' means nothing because FSU had a better offensive performance than UGA (which, by your logic, means they have a better offense this year, right?)
Your unwillingness to admit that a) FSU is a serious force and b) Clemson's defense is scarily permeable is astonishing. You can't look to one side of the coin for an explanation without acknowledging the other. That's not how things work.
a) this was about how bad Pitt's D looked b)FSU is good but we can beat them at home c)our D will be fine d)UGA has a top 5 offense and will score 40 ppg
I can say with reasonable certainty that if Sang wasn't so unbearable about it, everyone would root for Clemson unless they root for a rival or whatever.

if you think I'm unbearable wait till we beat FSU. but seriously. I haven't been unbearable about how good Clemson is. before the UGA game, I never even said that we would win. I never even gave a prediction, because I didn't know if we could beat them. I felt good because it was at home, but wasn't 100%. we did win and we are ranked in the top 5 and we're not going anywhere because we have a great football team. it's a great time to be a Clemson fan and I'm going to enjoy it.
a) this was about how bad Pitt's D looked b)FSU is good but we can beat them at home c)our D will be fine d)UGA has a top 5 offense and will score 40 ppg
A) To me it's actually about how funny it is you call Pitt's defense awful when Clemson's defense is -- since apparently week 1 is all that factors into it for you -- awful. B) Okay. C) Okay. D) I doubt that very much. They certainly have some ground to cover already don't they? Also you made a point to highlight how easy FSU's schedule is up until the Clemson game. You gotta figure they'll be a very potent offense, and will most likely outscore UGA, so I'm not really sure where you see that as a sound argument.
our defense will be better than Pitt's. UGA will probably score more than FSU. I would have said definitely, but they did lose their top WR for the season.
