Despite all the shiz-talking, I actually hope he pans out. A lot of my friends are Jets fans and its more fun on Sundays when they aren't all suicidal. Plus his o-line is looking pretty solid after the draft. If Holmes could get his head out of his as$, he and Kerley are two solid receivers.
Although I gotta say, your TE situation is almost as perplexing as Jerry Reese's refusal to roster more than one competent LB at a time.
They can have Jordan Reed. What the heck were the Redskins thinking with that pick?

I saw Jordan Reed play in high school level, for some dominant New London (CT) teams back in the day... as the QB. And based on this, could he possibly be the #2 TE behind Fred Davis?

Absolutely. He could even be #1 if Fred gets caught with his friend MJ again. However, the Redskins offense under RGIII does not require multip,e versions of these types of tight ends - they can't help on a max protect - but really, I just feel like there were more glaring needs that may have been addressed with a third rounder. Believe me, I hope I'm wrong.

In Shanahan I trust. I was puzzled by the pick at the time, but the fact that they were still able to get Phillip Thomas in round 4 (who I had seen mocked to them in round 2 prior to the draft), and also the bonus pick of Rambo in Round 6, made me feel a lot better about it.
My thought is that the intention is to use Reed as a dynamic weapon who can line up all over the field, which is what the original intention was with Niles Paul last year before he failed. We can always use extra weapons. In addition to Fred's danger with Ms. Mary Jane, we also have to keep in mind that Fred is coming off a pretty bad Achilles injury, and it's nice to have extra insurance in case Fred isn't at full speed.

I missed some good discusison in here over the weekend. Overall, it was a pretty average draft. Some players slid, some got reached for. Not many huge surprises.
I thought there were some stupid moves made in the first that could come back to haunt their respective teams. I thought the Dolphins trading up to get Dion was pointless. He wasn't going in the 3-5 range anyway. I also wasn't a fan of the Vikings draft. They put all of their stock in 3 players. If at least 1 of them doesn't turn out to be a super star, it was a wasted draft for a team that really needed a good one.

Can't wait to see how my Dolphins do this year. Been a die hard fan since Marino and we've sucked ever since! I'm lucky enough to live close enough to the stadium where I can go to a few games every year. I'm not even hoping for the playoffs I just want a winning season for the first time in seven years.
I think the Fins can get 2nd place in the division and eight wins. The Patriots should still win the division though.
Calling it now, Jets will go 8-8 or 9-7 behind a top-3 defense and elite running game and finish 2nd in the division. Geno starts by Week 6 (if not Week 1).
Billdos took the Jets' castoff D.C. (the one Rex took playcalling away from last year because he sucked) and are paying Mario Williams $16m to be a road cone every other week.
Phins spent a ton of money, didn't really improve all that much. They're taking one of the 5 worst pass blocking OL from last season (Jonathan Martin) and moving him from RT to LT, which is to say they're moving him from the easier tackle spot to the harder tackle spot. Martin allowed 57 total pressures, which ends up being the 3rd most in the entire NFL, but the guys who gave up more both had 150+ more pass blocking snaps. This is who Philbin is going to rely on to keep Tannehill upright. Gooooood luck with that. And I hate them for taking Dion Jordan.
Pats will win the division, but it won't be a 13-3 runaway like most years, I'm thinking 10-6 where the offense isn't its typical self, but the defense isn't puke-inducing awful anymore.
Jets have an easy schedule, revamped the DL, stocked the RB cupboard (Goodson isn't getting cut) and have an OC who will bench Mark Sanchez in 1.8 seconds if he does something stupid (assuming he's starting).
It won't be the offensive dumpster fire it was last year, think more along the lines of 2009 where they don't give the QB enough rope to hang himself with and just rely on the defense.
Those suspensions will hurt in the first 1/4 of the season, though. Luckily you have Avirl, because Irvin being suspended and Clemons coming back from injury could've been a much worse spot to be in.

Who are the early contenders for worst team in the league next year? I think it's the Titans. Not a bad draft but are they really going with The Hurt Locker?
I'm not a fan of Hassel-backup but anything is better than Locker. That team is in for a beatdown. 2-14 win at home against Jacksonville and then steal one from San Diego or something. Mike Munchak sucks. It's terrific.

I don't think the Titans will be worst in the league. They improved their line a lot by adding Chance Wormack and Andy Levitre - so I'm expecting a much improved season from Chris Johnson and the running game in general (also added Shonn Greene in free agency). If Kenny Britt can stay on the field for his contract year and Kendall Wright can take a step forward, then their passing game should be good enough. Not saying they will be good, but I can see the Titans sneaking out 7 wins.
As long as Blaine Gabbert is under center, my pick is the Jaguars. It could be the Jets too, but their defense is probably too good to let that happen. Kansas City and Oakland also deserve a mention. Wow, the AFC sucks.
The AFC had 6 teams in the top 10 draft picks vs. 4 for the NFC and they had 6 double-digit win teams to the NFC's 7. Plus, they won the Lombardi. The disparity isn't that big.
The Jags have to be the pick for worst team, they have a terrible defense and Blaine Gabbert.
And I can assure you the Jets' defense is too good to be the worst team, they had one of the 10 worst QB performances since the merger (for a full season) and still won 6 games.
I think Jax is the front-runner for worst team. But it will be interesting to see what Palmer/Smith will/won't do in Arizona/KC. Either of those teams could contend if the offense doesn't gel around the new QB.

Haha hey, if you guys can't appreciate sports nicknames...
I understand anyone thinking the Jags will be the worst but I feel like the new GM and coach will steer them in the right direction. Seemed like a strong draft.

Depending what happens with the situation involving MJD and his, alleged, assault, Jags could be down their best player to start the season. Definitely the strongest candidate for worst team this season.
Welp. Bellicek gets to show what Tebow can do and rub it in the Jests nose that they know how to make use of him. As a Giants fan I can only look forward to this whole story play out.
