I would love to hear the reasoning behind the Sherman-bashing.
Putting down an opposing player after you beat him is classless. I understand about adrenaline and emotion, but other players manage to give post-game interviews after big wins without crossing that line.
But more importantly, Sherman's team beat my beloved Niners. I've been rooting for this team for 30+ years and had tickets for 8 seasons (several of which were glorious). I don't have to judge him fairly or be objective. I disliked Deion Sanders when he was a Falcon and a Cowboy and loved him when he was a Niner. If you cheer for a team, cheering against their rivals comes with the territory.

What about Crabtree disrespecting Sherman at a charity event hosted by Larry Fitz? When Sherman went to shake Crabtree's hand, and instead Crabtree insulted him and tried to start a fight? Or all the trash talking Crabtree did during the game (he kept pushing Sherman's facemask after the whistle).
Acting like Crabtree is a victim is simply inaccurate. He brought it upon himself.
As a Niners fan, of course you're expected to dislike rivals, but there's a difference between disliking a rival for being good, but still respecting him (like I do with Tom Brady as a Jets fan) and acting like he's scum because your team lost.

I never said Sherman was the scum of the earth, that his trash talk is the worst thing in the world, or that he's a bad player. He's an exceptionally talented player. True shut-down corners are a rare thing. And there are certainly worse behaved current and former NFL players. To the best of my knowledge, Sherman hasn't killed anyone. So he's got that going for him.
I also didn't hold Crabtree up as a model of good behavior. I think he's a bit of a prima donna.
However, as a rule, I don't like it when players make it all about themselves and I think a lot of the taunting is over the top. So, I will continue to dislike Richard Sherman.

I can't believe how much of today I've had to spend defending Richard Sherman.
You see, I like to watch my football games through a TV. Usually a big, crystal clear HD TV that allows me to see the entire, incredibly violent, incredibly emotional game.
Apparently, the majority of America watched last nights game through a microscope.
As a former corner back on an extremely competitive, defensive minded high school football team, I have a pretty good idea of why Richard Sherman is the way he is. It's not rocket science, and it doesn't make him as*hole for Christ's sake.
First it was the Jameis interview, now its Sherman. As has been previoulsy stated, the guy just won the biggest game of his career so far and played a significant factor in the game as well. You either get the cliche "we're just taking it one game at a time. Gonna watch tape and try to do better next week" or you get pure, candid, raw emotion like Jameis and Sherman. I guess there are a lot of people out there who prefer neither?
I love how he was acting like a thug, but because he's an educated man, we can act like he wasn't.
What did he do that was "thuglike?"
Was it the perfectly legal, majestic, awe-inspiring defensive play that won the biggest game of the year to date?
Or was it yelling into a microphone?
Very interested to see what you think justifies the "thug" label people are giving him.
he came off like either a WWF wrestler or a gangsta rapper. sure we know that he's more educated than that, but that is not how he was acting in that moment.
I think Tajh is just as good as Geno. if he gets a shot he will do ok. will he actually get a shot though? is the question.
I think coming out of college, Geno was ahead of him. Quicker release, better downfield vision.
And he'd get a shot like any other backup QB who is a rookie gets: a very, very small one that will likely go away once he plays like a raw rookie who never played under center in college.
I'm not a fan, to be honest, and it has nothing to do with him being from Clemson. He's really small and I'm not high on his QB skills.

Key phrase. There have been numerous times I have acted like an idiot in the moment and I am not a thug at all.

Oh boy. You are only saying "Gangster rapper" because he's a black guy with dreads. Please take a step back and realize how these comments come off, Sang. You've been pretty good lately, let's not ruin it with comments like these.

Please give me examples of white athletes who have come off as "gangsta rappers."
idk I guess Aaron Hernandez is pretty gangsta. I can't recall anyone else reacting that way after a game.
So you've equated a black athlete yelling into a camera with a white/latino one who has murdered a bunch of people. Well done, Sang.
I mean, he's the only example I can think of. this is not about a race this is about Richard Sherman, since he is the one that did it. I don't recall anyone of any race acting like that before.
