So I just found out that I actually can go to Wanee for a day unexpectedly. This is a fest I've always wanted to try, but it's always been at a bad time for me. I was hoping to go Friday since I can't on Thursday or Saturday. Any chance that they'll sell single day tickets at the gates (I'd expect for around $100)?
Can't say enough how awesome of a weekend that was. It was just such a blast seeing everyone and I can't thank everyone who helped make it so awesome enough. I think my anticipation for Roo just got cranked up a notch and can't wait to do it all again!
Good times! Amazing times!! Galactic closing was an epic show and by far my favorite show of the weekend. The trail, well it was more than expected, too many stories, so I will let others tell them. All I will say about it is that, Short-Cut Camp kicked ass and I had a blast and look forward to next time. I would post some pics, but I did not take any. Hope someone did. Merry-Wanee!
^^I keep showing that picture off to everyone... heavenly.
This past week was one of the best weeks in my life. Thank you to all who were a part of making it so magical! Since I trust Scrog’s opinion, I knew from the beginning that Wanee would be a wonderful time, but I had no idea how truly magical. SOSMP, like he’s claimed, is easily the most beautiful park/venue that I have ever been to. The oaks everywhere with the Spanish moss draping down is like a storybook drawing (I’ve never seen Spanish moss before). The Suwanee river that looked like it was a gush of Guinness (thanks FuzzyWarbles for the accurate comparison) was another first and I could help but stare. AND THAT AMAZING MUSHROOM STAGE (See Fuzzy’s pic above)…. Wow.. just wow.
The music was fabulous with not a bad set to be seen. I’ve never been much of a Panic fan, but @zenfnp and I are officially fans. Franti’s set was so moving with a tribute to a couple where the husband has ALS (and they were on stage) paired with “Life is Better With You. ” Check out the video below... Cried like a freaking baby. This was actually the second time I cried that day as sugarhigh, Kerri and myself had the pleasure of attending a (super small) wedding in a cute little chapel on a lake. Kerri was dressed fully in her caterpillar gear while Sugar and I cried.
Shortcut Camp blew my mind!! The time, money and effort that Scrog, fawnmart and quacker put into creating this fantastical home for us.. WOW! I can’t say thank you enough to them for making this weekend better than can ever be expected. Pictures will hopefully be posted here soon to show those of you who have not seen any pics on Facebook. The rabbit hole/giant mushroom/ looking glass path was stupendous. To sit late night around the fire and hear giggles from delighted passerbyers… <3 <3 Nothing can put a bigger smile on your face. We put people on trial… but I’ll wait until Fawn uploads one of her videos to show you all rather than tell you. “Off with her head!” “Cat? Ahhhh cat!”
And the people… Everyone in our camp was amazing. Truly. It was one of those weekends that restores your faith in humanity because each person you meet only surpasses the person before. I met some incredibly amazing people this weekend and I feel like I am better for it. Just a few notes… Thank you, mayonaise, for the creation of the visors and for taking me in after the fest. I love you, Randy, and all of our smiles, giggles and offers to the server for a threesome. @zenfnp, thank you for the rides to and from Wanee and being one of the best travel partners that I have ever had. We never stopped laughing even when losing possessions and smashing toes.. It’s not often when the drive is just as much fun as the destination. Clairity… I am SO glad to finally meet you and thanks for being my twin! You’re an incredible person and as you said, “we need to find another field to twirl in. STAT!” fawnmart, our camp mother, you always outdo yourself. Your kind heart and love for helping others shines through you, and can’t help but shine onto others. Hakuna, thanks for frolicking in a tutu with me all weekend. It’s great to have a partner in crime! I could keep going forever.. but I shall stop.
‘Til next time, Brothers and Sisters of the Suwanee!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Great post Bonz. Glad you had an amazing time and got to experience the magic of SOSMP looking forward to having you back.
Short-Cut Camp at Bear Creek will be Underwater themed, but you are more than welcome and even encouraged to dress up as your favorite Waffle Dragon or any other water/non-water creature.

I absolutely need to get in on some of these other festivals next year. This one might be tough due to it being really, super far, but bonzai is pushing a hard bargain!

It's only July.
F*ck!
There's a lot of amazing "other" festivals, but Wanee is by far my favorite other camping fest.
