Just saw on the ESPN ticker that Strong has emerged as a leading candidate at UT.
He might be the leading candidate from UT, but when you click on ESPN you see a story about Strong staying at Louisville. Coach Strong is s Gator, I would be very surprised to see him at UT.
Arkansas, WTF? Good for us, Hogs will still suck with that hire. U do not see anything good coming out if that.
Gnome, I saw that story, Karl Malone is pissed, looks like la tech should have made up there mind and took the offer when they had a chance. I guess that is what you get when you get greedy.

If you read the article, it's all sources within the University saying that they are optimistic that he will stay. Of course anybody from the athletic department is going to say that. If you want a counter point, when asked about him entertaining other offers, he said he would make a statement on that "at the right time". Strong also recently publicly criticized Louisville's fan base for not showing enough support for the team this season.
As far as him being a Gator, he only had one season at Louisville in at that point, but you have to think he may be a little displeased that they hired Muschamp over him since Muschamp had no connection to the university and zero head coaching experience. Even if I am off base on that, Strong has primarily been an SEC coach, and UT is arguably the best of the four SEC jobs available this offseason. In addition, he may want to coach at Florida, but it doesn't look like Muschamp is leaving any time soon since he is winning.
^Got to agree with Dave. Strong's loyalties to Florida likely pale in comparison to his desire to be a great head coach. How does one prove his aptitude as a head coach? Go to the SEC and revive a program that is down. If he gets the job done at UT, he'll truly be recognized as a great head coach.
I am not saying he is holding out for Florida and only Florida. I am saying we do not like UT and I would be surprise to see coach Strong in the creamsicle orange. I do see him somewhere in the SEC, but just not at UT, although pick'ens might be slim for a while. I would like to see what he could do with Louisville in the ACC. They could be ACC champs next year. There are 3 teams that if we beat each year, I am a happy football fan. That is Florida State, Georgia, and Tennessee, as long as we win those 3 games, I am good! So I can not see one of our coaches coaching at one of those 3 schools.
as for Muschamp, I do agree Dave, he is not going any where for a while. We love him, players love him, it looks good! he does have ties to Gainesville. He grew up here, went to elementary and high school here. He tried to meet with Coach Spurrier and according to Muschamp the "fleshy banana" dissed him and did not show up for their meeting. I say cock, because the ole ball coach is one, now. Spurrier says he does not remember that. Either way, although he graduate a Bulldog, I like to think coach Boom grew up a Gator. (Side note: I am a Gator, I bleed Orange N Blue, but I graduated nursing school from Florida State.)

Here's the thing about Strong - Louisville's AD said they'll make him the highest paid coach in the country just to keep him. Now, they could just be trying to scare off other teams, but you never know.

Jimmy Hyams reported that Gundy is now out of UT's coaching search lolol. Man, if we don't land Gundy or Strong, I think the fan base will go ballistic. I wonder where it would go from there.

My admin assistant is ready to go ballistic if it's anybody but Gundy (or Gruden ). I have been taking notes about what people are saying around the office because you know, if the coach starts winning next year or the next, everyone is going to say they were behind the hire before the hire was even made.
Scrog, Spurrier has been a d*ck for a long time. You just put up with it in the 90s because he was winning national titles for Florida. I agree that Muschamp is doing pretty great so far. I like the intensity he shows. Yet another reason why people here need to calm down on how much HC experience coaching candidates have here since Muschamp had zero before he took the Florida job.

I'm guessing Fedora would be next in line, though he's an offensive guy and we'd need some good D coaches to balance him out, especially after what we saw this year. He runs a spread offense, so that would be fun to watch at least.
Dave, SEC and national titles are nice, but I love Spurrier, because he is a Gator. Yes, he is a weenie. "You can't spell Citrus, with out UT." but we love him. ;D
and I agree HC experience does not mean everything.

The Big 10 coach of the year wasn't even a head coach on the high school level before, let alone college/NFL. He did a prett-ay, prett-ay, prett-ay good job all things considered.
So, yeah, Strong said no due to Louisville reworking his contract according to reports. Good one on Louisville's AD for ponying up the money to keep their man.

Seems like that interview was nothing more than ammunition for a long term contract at Louisville. Whose the next candidate? Petrino, Butch Davis? One of my best friends is from Chattanooga so he's been keeping us up on the job search down here.
I don't know if that is what he set out to do. He's an SEC guy, so you would assume he would want to get back to the SEC at some point. Louisville's AD said that they liked him and would do what it took to keep him. From what I have read, the new deal is worth $4mil a year which is more than UT probably wanted to spend on him.
Basically, this is where the search is going to go south. Much like you said with Texas, UT's fanbase is somewhat delusional. There was serious opposition to Strong (So what he won the Big East? That ain't the SEC!) and Gundy (Close to a NC game ain't an NC game! 7-5 this season? Just another Dooley!), and those were more obviously legitimate coaches. The new I have heard as the next stop if Fedora at UNC, but people again have doubts that he is going to leave UNC after only one season. There is more serious opposition to him since wins at UNC doesn't count apparently. Petrino and Davis have that cloud of NCAA trouble around them, so a lot of people don't want either of those since we are on probation. You can definitely tell it is bad because there is a growing faction that says they should hire Fulmer back which I think is straight crazy talk. From what I have read, Butch Jones would be a good option at this level, but people will be pissed about him for the same reason as Fedora.
The #1 greatest thing about yesterday came late at night when I read a news story where they were asking people at a restaurant about what happened with the coaching search yesterday and who they thought UT might go after now. 2 out of the 3 people said they hoped Hart would return the search back to Gruden hahahaha. I couldn't help but laugh, it's like they don't realize who turned who down. Fantasy land indeed.

Who gets your Heisman vote?
Gotta give it to Te'o. Charles Woodson won with 44 tackles and 8 INT's. Te'o has 103 tackles and 7 INT's (as a quacking inside LB). He deserves it.
Manziel put on lots of mileage sure, but he definitely didn't make the impact Tebow and Newton did during their Heisman years. On the scoreboard or the win column.

manziel. they lose at least 2-3 more games without him. the same may be true of klein, but manziel is more fun to watch. and that's what the Heisman is always about. it's never really the best player.
Fedora took my Golden Eagles from decent to a nationally=ranked, conference-winning, two loss team. The year after he left, we DIDN'T WIN A SINGLE GAME. Is the rotting corpse they hired after Fedora that bad, or was Fedora that good? I would love to see Fedora at UT, even though I have no ties to UT.
