Every store should have a pet, and not just record stores
I went into an attorney's office yesterday to do an interview. She primarily works as a court appointed attorney for kids in foster care. The lawyer's daughter, who is her receptionist, brings her dog to the office for the kids to play with. Completely unexpected in a lawyer's office, but a great idea. The little kids usually hate meeting with their attorneys but they all love her because they get to hug on this giant dog while they're visiting.

Lost and Found Records
The Disc Exchange
The Disc Exchange has the best application test ever. You fill out your normal name and address stuff than they have a list of genres, i.e. Rock, Electronic, Bluegrass, and ask you to fill in three artists for each genre.

Putting posters up led me to Wild Honey Records today. I didn't know it existed until a day or two ago. Minus the metal, it was a lot like Now Playing Dos in physical form even down to this little touch in the corner.
For bonus points, I ended up talking to the owner for a bit. I had commented on several of the records on display and how surprising it was that they were on display at a store in Knoxville, i.e. Thundercat. He then asked if I had listened to Jagwar Ma (which was also on display). When I said I had heard it and really enjoyed it. He asked if I had heard the new Candy Claws album. I thought Delicious Meatball Sub would be pleased.

Mayner, where did Wild Honey move to? I really like the owner of that spot. Also in Knoxville are Basement Records (mostly older stuff) and Music Room Guitars. We have 5 proper record stores and I feel like that's pretty good for a town this size.

They moved to a small shopping center off Kennesaw in Sequoyah Hills. Like I told him, I didn't even know they had commercial stuff back in there.
